The Cardinals have scored 10+ runs nine times so far this season (including tonight's game). They scored 10+ runs nine times in the entire previous season.

This team is really struggling to find an identity. I'm hoping having Peralta back will help alleviate some of the defensive concerns. Pitching has been a major question mark too.

Trevor, you're going to give me an ulcer before too long. :tsk:

Pretty good trade off

I guess you could spin it as a good trade off but it's not really. At least half of Heyward's value is in his defense, maybe more. Plus, if Heyward was here then Piscotty or Holliday would be playing at first. So it's more like Heyward vs Adams/Moss. And we all know who is better in that scenario.

Looking at numbers, Adams and miss have outperformed Heyward. Yes, Heyward is elite defensively (beat RF in the game), but we aren't losing games cause of our 1B are making errors

Alex Reyes back from suspension and starting for Memphis today. First strike out was on a 99 mph fastball. Can't wait to see him grow.

Yeah, but does piscotty wear funky suits and sing karaoke? Because we all know that's more important than some meaningless numbers.

All kidding aside, I don't think Heyward's lack of production is hurting the Cubs. He'll heat up soon enough, though

Offense was never a sure thing with Heyward. I was glad we didn't give him a big contract. Theo and Maddon are on a roll but they won't get everything right.

We needed to spend some money last winter but not in right field. Piscotty looks good.

The Cubs are not playing their best baseball right now. They've lost 7 of the last 11. And they have to fly back to St. Louis after a night game on the west coast, with no off day. We do have to face Arrieta this time, but no Lester again. Really no excuse for this series...have to win it.

If we are looking at offensive production of our first basemen vs heyward, and I think that's fair because piscotty/Holliday would be displacing Moss/Adams had heyward signed, they are out producing him as well. Some of Moss's production has come while playing outfield too, but there's no doubt we've got more than 1 homerun and 14 rbi out of first base so far. To this point in the season I'm quite happy heyward turned us down, but let's wait til the season is over to make those comparisons.

Cubs have lost 7-11... I didn't realize it had been that bad the past couple weeks, but now that i think about it, there has been a lot less chest thumping on my social media from bandwagon cubs fans, lol

The offensive production in general has been sort of misleading. On paper we are the best, or one of the best, offenses in baseball. But that is mainly because we enjoy pouring runs on bad teams like the Braves. All that shows is that we have the potential to be a great offense. I won't trust this offense until we can beat some good teams.

Peoria Chiefs pitching staff is straight up filthy, especially the top 3 starters - Junior Fernandez (will be top pitching prospect once Reyes gets promoted), Sandy Alcantara (24K's his last two starts in 14 IP), and Jake Woodford. Just hope Sierra Mangerius can continue to hit and step it up.

Rough game tonight. But it's a completely different ball game if Grichuk catches that ball in the 1st inning and it's only 2-0 instead of 6-0. A play like that really makes you value a guy like Heyward's defense and what it can do for a team.

I don't know about anyone else but I wish we would just get rid of Broxton. I don't know what Matheny sees in him, but every time he comes into the game, he is just terrible. I feel like he is always giving up runs.
