Let's hope. The results vs the Pirates, Cubs and Nationals are pretty disappointing so far. Not sure we can contend for anything without winning a few games against those better teams.

Agreed. IMO, making the playoffs this year is like getting to the WS in past years. Between the Cubs, Pirates, Mets, Nats, Giants, Dodgers, and us there will be at least 2 really good teams that don't make it. But maybe some teams will not play up to expectations which could make it easier.

Nice W tonight to clench the series and pick up 1 1/2 games on the Cubbies.

As a side note, remember when a lot of people wanted to sign Chris Davis. Well so far this season Brandon Moss is hitting better than him, and for a much cheaper price. It's still early but something worth following.

As another side note, NL is 29-20 so far in interleague games. Quite an improvement over previous seasons, at least up to this point.

I fell asleep when we were up 8-5. Looks like it got even wilder. At least we held on I guess :/

Also, Albert's home run makes a home run against every MLB team.

Just heard a crazy stat on ESPN that we are 0-11 in games decided by 3 runs or less. What gives?

Yeah, there's no possible way that's true. I wouldn't put it past ESPN to say that, but Rosie has 6 saves. Don't see how that's possible if he's coming into 4+ run games in the 9th

Really disappointed they demoted Pham. Should have got rid of Moss. Terrible defensive player and strikes out way too much. Could have played Holiday at first and played Pham some in the outfield with Hazelbaker.

He wasn't demoted. He made the team and got hurt in the first game. He's rehabbing

Technically his rehab is over and he got demoted to AAA. But it's unclear whether he got sent down because the club feels there is no spot for him, or because they want him to have an "extended rehab" because he's not quite ready yet. Hopefully it's the latter because Pham deserves to be on the team over Hazelbaker or Tejada.

Also, I'm seeing that Peralta could start his rehab assignment as early as this week. I think the best case scenario is Wong starts hitting consistently so we can keep him at 2nd, move Carpenter to 1st, and have Peralta play at 3rd. But if Wong keeps sucking then Carpenter can move to 2nd. Just don't move Diaz because the last thing he needs is to feel uncomfortable again at a new position.

I didn't get to watch the whole thing, but through 3 innings, he looked in control. The first inning he gave up the big triple to Blackmon, but regained his composure. His curveball looked good. Other pitches has better movement.

Agreed.

As for Pham, I think it's probably a combination of getting him some more rehab, and waiting to see what hazelbaker is going to do. After the hot start he has really trailed off. Mike is probably going to give him every opportunity to turn it back around before he demotes him. That will give Tommy plenty of time to get right.
Speaking of hazelbaker, how did we acquire him? Was he a rule 5 pick or no?

No he was signed as a free agent last May after the Dodgers dropped him.
