Exhibit 1 for FIFA to change its rules for allowing video review.

That said, Brazil pretty much stank, at least to their lofty standards.

They don't need replay, which will kill the flow of the game. They just need to add an official at each end of the pitch who is responsible for penalties and calls like the one missed by the ref and linesman.

The flip side is look at how long the referee took to make the decision. Video review would've taken one minute, max. The additional officials would mostly work and would typically be faster than video review, but at the expense of accuracy.

Video review breaks the flow, but the flow is already broken by all the divas rolling and writhing on the pitch.

Maybe. I've no idea. How come we have so many fantastic golf courses, condition-wise, yet many of our stadium fields suck?

Europeans consider their football stadiums hallowed ground. Our NFL stadiums have a new event on the turf every other day. Golf courses are certainly a good comparison, but for a better one look to the turf at our most hallowed baseball stadiums.

That used to be true. However, one just needs to look at the summer concerts they've been scheduling at Wrigley Field for the past several years. They put down a barrier to try to protect the turf, but it never works perfectly.

Yeah if there was an official on the endline then the right call is probably made. But I do think we'll see replay in soccer within the next 3-4 years. If it's done right, then it won't kill the game imo. Do it like the MLB does with a replay center, but better and quicker.

But the problem is fouls and handballs aren't really reviewable, just like fouls in basketball aren't reviewable. They are judgement calls, one ref might think it's a foul and another ref might think it's a dive. The only thing that's really reviewable is offside, goal/no goal, and the ball going out of play. I guess red cards could be reviewable as well, similar to flagrant fouls in basketball.

I disagree here. Unlike hockey, where they can positon a camera on the blue line, the camera angle can easily make onside plays look off and vice versa.

Which they have at Euro 2016 btw, and have had for Champions League finals for awhile now. It works.

That was a very fun match to watch. The goal by Venezuela was tremendous and so were the back to back saves by their keeper. It would have been even more fun to see them pull it out but Mexico was putting on so much pressure, they were lucky to get out with a draw. The Venezuela defending on the Mexico one man show goal was terrible.

Yeah the defending was pretty bad, but lots of it had to do with the player who scored the goal. Tecatito Corona. He's only 23 and is expected to be a star winger for Mexico.

Here's the bracket for the knockout stage (I'm going on the assumption that Argentina will win their match tonight):

USA vs. Ecuador (CenturyLink Field, Seattle)
Argentina vs. Venezuela (Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA)
Peru vs. Colombia (MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ)
Mexico vs. Chile (Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, CA)

Corona was a man amongst boys on the ball but really shouldn't be able to take 6-7 guys solo. Velazquez, who scored the great goal for Venezuela, whiffed like a grade school newby to the game of soccer on that play. While his goal was awesome, that play was one of the worst I've seen at that level.

What I think will happen:

Argentina beats the USA
Columbia beats Mexico
Argentina beats Columbia

What I want to happen:

USA beats Venezuela
Mexico beats Columbia
USA beats Mexico to win the Copa America Centenario!

I don't know. 3 of the 4 quarters are toss-ups. Chile could beat Mexico. Peru could take out Columbia. Ecuador could beat the US. Venezuala has been the surprise of the tournament, but Argentina has too much.

I agree. I just hope that USA makes it to semis and makes messi play!

Huge, huge game tonight. US has to win to meet their objective. And to instill a sense that the MNT is moving forward. Normally, I'd be ok w/losing Yedlin, but Ecuador has a lot of speed at wing. Seattle should be electric. Am really hoping Bradley, Jones and Bedoya bring their A games. If they do, we should win. Can't wait.

When watching Ecuador the other night, I was thinking how much we will miss yedlin in the game.

So we are going to be down 3 players in the next match? I know Dempsey will play but aren't these missing guys going to make it extremely hard to win? I don't know our team at all since I've only followed the past couple of games but this really sucks.

We were missing Yedlin in this match, so he'll be back. Of the 3 who will sit out the next match, missing Bobby Wood will likely have the most impact. He was consistently making runs to get behind the Ecuador back line. Hopefully, someone else can step up and try to do the same thing.

We will be playing Argentina. If we had our full team, a win would be a monumental upset. Minus Wood, Jones and Bedoya, moves it from monumental to epic (e.g. Miracle on Ice). And, yes, it sucks, but rules is rules. Jones probably shouldn't have received a straight red, maybe it'll be overturned. Losing Wood really hurts our offensive punch. Maybe Altidore can pull one big game out.

Altidore is hurt and was not included on the Copa America roster. The forwards on the roster are:

Dempsey
Pulisic
Wondolowski
Wood
Zardes

Will be interesting to see what formation the US come out in. I could see them moving to a single target man with Dempsey up front and putting Zardes in a more winger type role. But I think missing Bedoya will hurt a lot in that scenario as well. Zusi is almost sure to start in Bedoya's place IMHO.

Ah, should've known that. Yeah, Dempsey & Zardes up top. Zusi and Beckerman in, and JK parks the bus in front of Guzan. Won't matter though.
