What is everyone worried about, don't you remember LUCKY said it's a done deal with Goodwin
No one should fault this class if we close it out with Frazier & Kiir or something on that order. A wing is a luxury at this point, we have JCl, DJW, AJ, & Kipper returning, Pickett, Williams, and potentially Frazier that can also play wing...to me it is a bit crazy that we have been able to sell that to so many quality wings in the first place, roll that over to Tim Finke in 2018 and in the end we would hardly miss a beat, other than the obvious hurt feeling that we would lose someone to SLU.
I keep forgetting about Nichols and Pickett.
There's a reasonable possibility that it goes something like: Lewis to Iowa St, Goodwin to SLU, Eastern to MSU, Justin Smith to Villanova, Kigab to Oregon, Bowen to MSU, Wilkes to UNC, Victor Bailey to Texas A&M, Jarrett Culver to Texas, Scruggs to XU.
If that happens and we still get Frazier, we'll just have to be satisfied with two top 100-ish combo guards in him and DMW to go with a promising 3-star wing in Pickett. Then we might consider adding a third big to the class or rolling the scholarship over to 2018, where we're in on Garland, Dosunmu, Ramey, Kezo Brown, Tim Finke, and Carte'Are Gordon. Either way, we'll be just fine.
If SLU manages to beat us for Goodwin, then Travis Ford will make a huge jump up my most hated coaches list. Evans and Goodwin in consecutive head-to-head matchups with a guy who has done absolutely nothing with his coaching career would just grind my gears.

Sorry for the reality check.
Sounds like we're in the top 3.We're in the top 6 for 2017 wing Abu Kigab.
Depends on the team culture and where the arrow is pointing.
If we stagger into tourney, get blown out in round one, and he only has one Top 50 and three Top 150 guys, he is in trouble.
Sounds like we're in the top 3.
All of that seems pretty plausible to me, except Goodwin to SLU.
Not going to lambast and reasonable people can disagree reasonably on many things. And it's not like we have an equal chance at Kiir and Wilkes, but if we did, Kiir over Wilkes .... no.

Is 3rd place really any better than 6th though? I had zero visibility to his recruitment and had to look him up after the top 6 announcement, so start with that disclaimer; I but don't see much to suggest he is a better chance than Lewis or Goodwin for us. A pleasant surprise to get named, nice to see some comments to suggest why we were named, but I'm still putting our chances at 1/6 or 17%...doesn't move the needle much in reality for me. I'm throwing him in the category of Smith, Bowen, Eastern, Scruggs, Wilkes where I'm still betting heavily on the field and if forced to pick one team it wouldn't be us...nice to be in the mix, because once in a while you will get lucky, but shouldn't be your main plan.
Well, I do think Oregon is probably the heavy favorite here, he has scheduled an official visit to UI, so that's at least a sign we have some chance. Getting him on campus would be pretty telling, IMO.
Is Lewis going to commit on his first OV? (purely rhetorical Q). I don't doubt he really like ISU. They're going to roll out the red carpet and press for a commitment, no doubt. But no comparisons? I think there's a good chance (> 50%) he takes more than 1 OV.
Who's panicking? And regarding those that are, why do you care?
With regards to Kigab

If he makes it to Illinois for his OV, which means he left Oregon without committing, then we may be the team to beat. Schools receiving the last visit should be considered heavy favorites. So in this case, being on the schedule, even as the #3 team is much better than being 4-6.Well, I do think Oregon is probably the heavy favorite here, he has scheduled an official visit to UI, so that's at least a sign we have some chance.
