For whatever reason, our WR recruiting seems to be going a lot better than ever where else

Two different reason I would think . First different emphasize instead of draft horses we are going after more quarter horses with some draft horse mixed in. Secondly the new staff at least warrants a photo op with the new head coach so we are being listened to more intently, if that will mean any.

Marist three star LB @Awodiran03 Micah Awodiran gives Yale his verbal commitment story to follow https://t.co/GoWQm1DZvB

That one stings a lot

If that's what he wants, he was never on the board to begin with. It's no different than him deciding he'd rather play a different sport. (Doesn't mean it doesn't suck, of course).

Great opportunity for him, sounds like a kid with a bright future.

I'm not too good with spotting football talent. How much does this hurt us?

It's a guy a lot of emphasis was put on, so there's both public embarrassment and the opportunity cost of all that time spent, but the fact is it's a lot worse to lose a kid to Indiana or Minnesota or Nebraska than Yale.

There are and will continue to be a lot more Juan Harris' on our board than Micah Awodiran's. To the extent individual recruiting battles are a bellwether, the former kind are the ones to look to.

We've been getting depantsed in the former kind. That's the stuff to freak out about, not this.

The 2017 class is looking like a disaster, but this specific recruitment is a relatively minor reason why.

Anyone think the staff sets sights a little bit lower for the rest of the recruiting period to at least get some bodies in this class? There have to be some potential guys out there who are very good athletes but just need football skills coaching who have maybe been overlooked by P5 schools. I'm sure many would jump at the chance to work under this staff and at least we won't have a nearly empty class. Then really focus on building relationships for that '18 class.

It's a little early to consider it "looking like a disaster"

Not a perfect analogy but for reference purposes Zook's 2007 class rated #21 by Rivals had exactly 3 commits at this same date in 2006. I realize Zook had been here for a few years and built relationships that were several years old but there is plenty of time to put together a good class

If they had them set low, Beckman/Cubit level, they would have 10-15 commits.

Chit my bad. Carmoni Green posted this on Twitter. As you can see, that's an Illinois hat.

FYI, he's deciding by end of the month

I'm not sure who else is in the hunt on this one. 247 page says Oregon State maybe? This kid is all over the O&B love on Twitter (and not really elsewhere). If he doesn't end up in Champaign I will be confused.

In any event - definitely a nice player to get if possible.

It's between us and Pitt, and we're the favorite.

Awordian to Yale doesn't upset me that much, obviously academics are first in his book, we could use him but congrats.

Doubt our staff would have even recruited him if he was from out of state, fwiw.

There I can not agree with you Ryan . I will say he might not been the priority he was. For myself there are several lb candidates I like better than Micah.
Oh and same low opinion on Adams as I do on Hicks. Low 3* kid no better than we have sitting on the bench right now. Again guys I would much rather have and Adams might not have been the priority he is he lived a few states over.
