BobZuppke is new to twitter but appears to be someone who knows what he is talking about. Lots of insight so far - sounds like he's watching practices based on the tweet content.

I think you are following all the same accounts that I am.

Yeah. BobZuppke has good stuff. Jeff Johnson knows a ton, but he can be a bit snarky at times.

Transfer is Darryl Long from Kentucky. I think a great fit. #606 on the 247 composite, 3 star with a lot of offers out of high school. We very much need a TE and sitting a year will benefit him. Have to imagine he decides soon since school starts in the next couple weeks.

I know zip about him. But he definitely sees the opportunity awaiting him at Illinois. Clear path. Think he'll take it.

He knows his football and has a lot of fun old stories about Illinois football, but he has absolutely zilch in terms of inside information, no matter how much he pretends he does.

JeffJ's Tweet was simply linking to the Crystal Ball which has Illinois at 75%.

This Isaiah Buggs they've offered is very, very clear on Twitter that his lifelong goal has been to play in the SEC, and he has offers from Bama, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, long story short, he's not coming here.

If Oladipo, Green and Carney are next (please!), who do you think will be in the next wave?

Yeah, his twitter activity today is pretty weird. I get being blessed to receive an offer, but he is going a little overboard IMO. He tweeted out a couple hours before about achieving his lifelong goal of playing in the SEC but then pumps up the Illinois offer. Seems like he just enjoys the attention.

Yeah I wasn't sure if Johnson still has connections or not. Either way, I love hearing the Turner, Zook, early Beckman stories. He also does pretty good recruiting evals

Or maybe he's just blessed to be considered from a top academic institution????.....

He went the judo route for a reason....but let him come to Illinois he'd be jihad ward 3.0

Our pitch is pretty clear: scads of playing time, coached by Nickerson and Smith and a great showcase for The League. Worked pretty well for Ward. Pretty compelling case, IMO. Something for the kid to mull over, anyway.

Agreed

Pure speculation from me: Nebraska quarterback AJ Bush is leaving the program. I wonder if Illinois will kick the tires on bringing him in for a visit.

Correct, Allison/Barr/Davis/Hinkhouse all in the last several years. A bit of a pipeline that has been developed.

IWCC has pipelines all over the place, that's a powerhouse Juco.

Having said that, he'll be available to come in January with experience under his belt and he's a stylistic fit for what we want and we're a Power Five school whose 2017 and beyond QB situation is wide open. One to keep an eye on for sure.
