Any other have plans to set up visits?

Pretty sure that the Twitter machine just indicated that Kiir hopes to have a visit to Illinois scheduled by Wednesday. Hard to know what that means, though, because he uses the Mayan calendar.

Yep, Kedric the Prince of Twitter confirms VCU Rams visit on October 22 (shearing week in Virginia, no doubt) and Illinois visit to be set by Wednesday. You really should try the Twitter machine before asking questions. There are things AND stuff on there.

Got to believe Epperson. Man has he blown up....MSU getting involved.

MSU is working on back-to-back monster classes. The Sparty roster during the 2017-2018 season could be downright scary. 5-star guys backing up 5-star guys.

Maybe it's Izzo's swan song. He finally got a little dirty in bball recruiting because he knows he will retire in a few years and wants that championship. It's been FAR TOO LONG!

Also, if any word comes out that he was living in the dark grey area of recruiting, he would be gone by then.

He is 61 so maybe he will keep coaching until he starts to collect social security. :D

I love how we say someone is being dirty any time any program hits paydirt on the recruiting trail, even when that program should be able to recruit based on their history and generally doesn't have those accusations thrown around.

While he's kicked it up a notch lately, he has had plenty of monster recruiting classes over the years. While he's not quite recruited at the level of UNC, Duke, and Kentucky, he's not that far behind.

I will call BS on this comment. Izzo has lost plenty of recruits because he would not play in that grey area and still coninues to stay clean. Why? Because the guy can flat out coach. Period!

The man constantly wins and has put several kids in the NBA, wins championships. If you are a player and lucky to be recruited by him why would you not go there vs any other no blue blood school?

Yup, just ask Jabari, Okafor, Ulis, and KFC. :)

Everyone is dirty.

Lasing, Michigan isn't the most desirable place to go first of all. I think a lot goes into "fit". Some players may not be comfortable at one place vs another. There are some who are looking for extensive benefits, but I think that is the rare case.

He left the n off there so it read kind of weird. I think you sort of proved his point since all those you listed went to blue blood schools. He was trying to say that lacking a blue blood offer, and yet having one from MSU, why would anyone not choose to go to MSU?

Maybe that's why they have a pretty good basketball culture up. The players don't go to East Lansing for the scenery, beaches, great weather, etc. The players are going there to play for a HOF coach, great tradition, and great atmosphere for both revenue sports on campus.

I think the reasons they wouldn't would happen to be the same as why any kid would choose any non-blue blood school even if they have offers from a blue blood: distance from home, relationships with coaches/staff/players, $$$, grew up rooting for the school, sentimental ties, legacy (i.e. parents and siblings all went there), etc.

Sounds like Illinois, without the HOF coach or recent success.

It's probably worth noting: Lansing ≠ East Lansing

KIIR SETS VISIT DATE

ESPN top-100 big Mayan Kiir will take an official visit to VCU next month according to Illinois blogger Kedric Prince who spoke with 2017 VCU target. Kiir will be heading to Broad Street just in time for VCU’s Black v Gold game on October 22.

Kiir holds several offers from high-major programs including the Rams. Will Wade visited Kiir’s Victory Rock Prep school last week to watch the 6’9 power forward

VCU will host at least two more bigs before Kiir gets to campus. The Rams will welcome 6’9 ESPN 4-star Sean Mobley to VCU for an official visit this weekend, then follow that up with yet another 4-star visit when they host 6’8 Blue Ridge native Aamir Simms the following weekend.

Interesting. I didn't realize VCU was gunning for 2 other bigs-- I have no idea how much mutual interest exists for Mobley & Simms, or if it'll even affect Kiir's decision, but the twittersphere(I know, not the best source) really made it seem like Kiir was the top priority...here's to hoping either Mobley or Simms pulls the trigger first and makes Kiir's decision a little easier :thumb:

Mayan Kiir

First time posting but along time follower. I have only seen this fellow on you tube but he really got me excited for what I saw. I hope Groce and company put out the red carpet for this kid. You can see the all around potential that he has. Still a little raw but what a good coach could make him in a year or two. He will be a game changer for sure for somebody. 6'9" and runs and dribbles up and down the floor like a point guard

All of the below are being recruited by VCU. Here are the Crystal Ball Predictions for each of them. TIFWIW

Mobley - Crystal Ball 100% West Virginia
Simms - Crystal Ball 71% VCU
Marcus Santos-Silva - Crystal Ball 100% Temple

I'm not getting the allure of VCU now that Shaka is gone.... scratching my head...
