Lackey is probably grinding his teeth into powder, looking at that lineup.Fun lineup today:
1. Szczur, RF
2. Baez, SS
3. Soler, LF
4. Contreras, C
5. Coghlan, 1B
6. Almora, CF
7. La Stella, 3B

Lackey must be loving it.
One hit in four innings?
Up a little late last night were we, guys?
EDIT: That's better!
I'm glad the Brewers aren't in the wildcard race. They have had our number recently. (Although, that may be a factor of us resting guys and playing different lineups)
So since the Cubs are in, some I've heard on sports talk radio have brought up an interesting question regarding the Cubs playoff roster that I'd like to get you all's take on...
If you're the Cubs, do you carry 3 catchers on the postseason roster? If so, whose the odd man out on the roster?
I hope the Cubs don't sleep-walk through the rest of the season like they did against the Brewers this weekend. There is a danger in turning switches on and off.
Magic number for home field down to 5.
I have 6. Do the Cubs hold a tie-breaker?
Regardless, I hadn't been paying attention to other teams over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see the Nats had gone through a mini-swoon. With 12 games to go, home field through the NLCS shouldn't be a worry.
Will be interesting to see which of the Giants and Cards can get the final wild card spot by default. We should all be preparing to see a DeGrom-less Mets team in the DS.
Cubs do hold the tie-breaker, so I went with 5. Perhaps I'm a bit impatient.
They only need to play .500 baseball the rest of the way to guarantee the best record in baseball. What a year.
By the way they're playing, it seems like neither the Giants or Cardinals want the last spot.
The Marlins have won 3 in a row. It would be hilarious if they could make a run at it. I'd love to see whomever ends up playing the Cubs have to win a couple one-game tiebreaker play ins.
The Feldman and Clevenger for Arrieta and Strop deal has become legendary.
But I didn't realize until reading this excellent Jon Heyman article that the Orioles did a pretty darn good job of recouping their losses.
I had completely missed the fact that the acquired Mark Trumbo from the Mariners by trading them Steve Clevenger.
That's right. Steve Clevenger and his .608 career OPS has now been traded for the 2015 NL Cy Young award winner and the likely 2016 MLB home run leader. And while the Orioles at least got half a season of Feldman in addition to Clevenger for Arrieta, Clevenger was the only thing the Mariners got out of the deal.
Today's Arrieta is the Arrieta the Cubs need to see in October. 7 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 10 K, 0 R.
Masterful.
I'm interested to see how Strop does in his return. Currently warming up in the bullpen. Cubs lead 5-0.
