Following up...funny to think that about 3-4 months ago it was thought Scruggs and Wilkes were trying to package up and go to X or IU...no idea what had happened but apparently IU really screwed up...then it was Wilkes to X or UCLA...now its believed Wilkes is a coin flip between ILL and UCLA. I can say with a fair amount of confidence that Wilkes will not be playing for Indiana, however........

If this has any merit, IL would look pretty good. I really think Mom and Dad want to be within driving distance to their son's games.

So we now have 2 pages of discussion after this article was posted and the consensus is that it clearly signals he is going to UCLA... and it clearly signals UCLA is too far... and it clearly signals he isn't sold on IU... and it clearly signals he will end up at IU... and it clearly signals he likes UI...

I think that just means the consensus is the kid is truly undecided and thinks he would be successful at all three.

Sorry if this has been posted previously but when does IU have their Midnight Madness (name?)? Is it possible that KW still attends this event and then makes a decision thereafter? I would have to think that would negatively affect both UCLA and U of I.

Side note: Love the way this kid appears to be thinking about this decision and would like nothing more than to have him in the O&B. Athletically gifted with a good head on his shoulders. Recipe for a great player now and a good representative of the Illini brand in the future.

Hoosier Hysteria is on Oct. 22nd, IIRC.

The Oregon men's basketball program got on the board for the 2017 recruiting class with their first verbal commitment.

2017 four-star guard Victor Bailey has given Dana Altman and the Ducks a verbal commitment days after seeing the Oregon campus on an official visit.

"Yes, I have committed to the Oregon Ducks," Bailey told 247Sports.com Tuesday evening.
Kigab relevant, maybe, but I doubt it.

Haven't read it anywhere so far....does Wilkes have any sort of a friendship/relationship with JCL?

Also, love BP3 working his way to the NBA! Gotta love the hard work.:chief:

His family knows JCL's family well.

Where is the IU fan at that was pretty much saying Lefty was a liar and has been on here a lot claiming all this inside information. Sure have gotten wuiet since yesterday

We have a great class. KW would make it a historic one and really change the short, medium and long-term outlook of the program. Think he and team have handled the entire recruitment process with class. Won't be easy watching him at IU if that's what he ultimately decides is best for him, but I am cautiously optimistic about our own chances ...

Everything is gravy at this point.

I don't know if this was mentioned or not, but Tilmon was on campus during Kiir's visit to, it was assumed, convince Kiir that they could play together.

I'm excited about the idea of a Tilmon and Kiir front court. Come join the O & B
Mayan!!!

Yeah. Bailey is a combo that leans more 2. Doubt it affects Kigab.

As a side note, since we're talking about great kids with good heads on their shoulders, Oregon just got one. Let's hope we get our wing too.

I don't understand why so many read that article as positive for UCLA. I didn't think it indicated that he had a lean toward any school really. Who knows.

That was my take also, seems torn to me.

I agree there's not a lot that Wilkes gave away in that article, but the one quote that stuck out to me was this one:

“I hear from (Indiana fans) all the time. But I have to decide where the best place is for me. Even if you don’t have as many fans, if that’s where you want to go, then that’s where you should go.”

I remember hearing a very similar quote from Goodwin after Tilmon committed and was trying to essentially say JG was a lock to us. That was not long before he committed to SLU. Might mean nothing, but just thought it was eerily similar. Hopefully he'll have a dream about being chased by a Chief :chief:, or a big Block I :illinois:. :thumb:

Yep. That combined with the incredibly odd story about texting Alford while in Crean's office is what gave me the impression IU was not at the forefront.

Maybe it's UCLA, maybe UI is making a quiet push. But that article reads as very umm.. uncomfortable.. for IU.
