I didn't see the game, but I agree lets not read too much into the first exhibition game. The 2005 team beat a pretty bad team by 7-8 points their first game. Sergio McClain (not Coach McClain) got on their asses as a former player.
What was Malcolm's technical for?
Folks don't get to worked up. He left Lucas, Thorne, DJ and Jordan, who are pretty rusty play most of that late 2nd half run. I will agree it was sloppy but Groce was trying to get some guys experience.
Best stat of the game: TA with zero turnovers in 23 minutes. Glad to see him back. His experience is a huge asset for us.

I fell asleep during the game. Glad to see them get the win.
It's early in the season. I was pleased to see Maverick Morgan's stats. Seems like he's continuing right where he left off last season.
Looked to be hanging on the rim and maybe some unnecessary theatrics afterwards.
Very unlike him; I'm sure we'll not see that much.
Illinois was +25 with Abrams on the court. Only one better was Finke at +28.
The ref should have swallowed his whistle on that one. Maybe the tv will prove me wrong tomorrow but I'm pretty sure a defender was walking under him and that's why he didn't let go of the rim sooner.
A few questions:
Was WashU working off some rust, or have they played a game already?
Was WashU experimenting with line up combos, or did they use their normal rotation?
Isn't WashU a D3 program?
As soon as he did it, I knew he would have it called. He dunked with both hands on right side grabbing the rim and then releases his right hand and grabs the other side of the rim and hung on. Don't remember any defender underneath him.
It's in the GIF's thread.... easy to see...
I noticed a Finke slam where he hung on a long time also... and no whistle...
It is embarrassing that we lost the rebounding battle with a D3 program. I don't care who was on the court, we should be winning rebound margin and points in the paint against any D2/D3 program. Those come down to size, strength, desire and fundamentals.
Not necessarily. They can get more rebounds if we just take a lot more shots and miss a lot more. Odds are they are gonna come down with a few more. Unless we get an insane amount of offensive rebounds. And I believe we still got our share of those.
