I read A Lion Eye's depth chart article earlier and it's crazy what this team needs for next year.

Robert also said there are only going to be 57 players on scholarship in the Spring? That means we'll probably take a full class of 25 and over sign with another three. Since we don't have one of those pesky bowl games to worry about, there better be a flurry of activity and commits in December

Players will transfer from Illinois so we will probably be able to take a few 5th year transfer players to get to 85. I just hope there are a couple of quality players willing to transfer here, preferably at QB and DE.

It would be nice to get early enrollees as well, especially at QB ad DE.

My guess is, to reduce it to simple numbers, that Lovie and McGee would prefer a 6 that fits to an 8 that doesn't.

I feel pretty confident we'll be able to get a dual-threat who is better than Crouch. If they aren't better in a vacuum than Max Browne, that's still probably not a terrible decision for a variety of reasons.

Fair enough, I understand your point, just not that convinced with the season we are having that even getting a 6 that fits will be an easy sell. In the end, a 5th year is just a small patch, so not sure the fit is as important when the rest of the personnel aren't exactly fitting yet either. Think the fit will be more important for the freshman qb that is the long term plan.

His dad hates Kelly. Like really really really really hates him. And he feels misled since they were always going with Kizer but feigned a battle just to keep both around.

That said yeah, he'll be a better fit. But he's a potential top 10 QB in the country. His recruitment will be as hard as any 5 star recruits. I imagine he'll go to a top program that has an open job.

This may be true, but my guess was that he would rather to go a place that has a guaranteed starting spot, vs somewhere where he would face competition from another top recruited QB (even with a graduating starter). Would seem that he would have to step down in competition to do that, and McGee would be a selling point here with the Lamar Jackson story.

Was Quincy Patterson visiting today? Hoping he can see the light. Also, per 247 John Holcombe from TX was visiting. He's a 2018 DT QB. I watched his highlights, he makes some good throws. Anyone know much on this guy?

younger brother of Zarrian Holcombe.. not bad, big body, but Illinois probably has a couple other guys further up the priority list.

All the CBs say Texas A&M or Texas so I won't hold my breath. He's retweeting a lot of Illinois stuff, however and we got the last visit.

Are we recruiting him as an LB or Safety? His profile also says he's a dual-threat QB as well, but all his highlights on the offensive side of the ball showed him as a WR?

I would assume TAMU as well but you never know. Sometimes seeing a gutsy win where guys at your potential position (safety and LB) play well can sway you.

But yeah, I'd assume he'll stay in Texas.

Texas gets ungodly hot in August when practice is in full swing. Now that he has experienced a November Saturday in Champaign first hand instead of rumors from the weather stations, maybe Champaign's lovely climate will help sway him.

Crystal balls make it look like a strong lean for A&M. The timing, following an A&M loss and Illinois win, makes me slightly more optimistic.

Not sure the crystal balls mean much. He was previously committed to TAMU so they're probably left over from that. 2nd on the list is Texas, who hasn't offered him.

I have mentioned this before but I will reword this for the occasion. 24/7 crystal balls must be break easily. I stopped paying more attention then the rare curiosity a few years back. Their batting average is probably in line with a top mlb hitter. In other words sub .400 . Just take it for what it is worth and enjoy it when they get it right for us.:(
