Really solid possession to finish the half there.

Halftime grades
TA/JT/TJL: D-
JCL/AJ: B-
MH/DW: F
LB/MF: F
MT/MM: F

Kipper must be the worst player in the world not to get some tick in a half where our bigs play like this.

Gotta grade out high in practice to play. Lol. Who cares about the games it's all about practice.

Hard to justify continually getting your doors absolutely blown off. It's tough to win on road in the Big 10 but these constant poundings are unacceptable.

Why not get Lucas playing time and experience he needs to develop instead of playing Tate all the time who is not helping the team?

Malcolm plays 6 minutes after picking up 3 fouls... 0 assists, 1 turnover. 0-3 shooting.
Abrams with 0 points, 0 assists, 1 turnover. 0-3 shooting.
Tate with 0-0 shooting. 2 assists, 1 turnover. 0-0 shooting.

Three senior guards... hard to explain. Time for some other guys to get more minutes.

Indiana is running to a spot launching a wide open three. No coach or player seems to figured this out. Defensively, we suck in design and execution.

Thorne looks way to slow defensively to be playing in the Big Ten. Always a step or two behind his guy.

Bingo. I didn't expect to win at Maryland or IU, but I damn sure expected to see a team that looked interested in being at either game. So sad.

This team is pretty much unwatchable sometimes. Just terrible basketball.

It's always terrible basketball, it's just sometimes the team we play (like OSU) plays comparably terrible basketball

I forgot all about Kipper. Why the hell didn't he get any minutes?

When has Groce this year shown he has any interest in going to his bench? I mean, he had Malcolm Hill trying to offense/defense sub with 4 to go in 1H with 3 fouls. 0 faith in his bench

Hill's pass to JCL the possession before cost us a wide open 3 as well. Guards have to pass better.
Totally agree, should have called that out too.

Can't hide from this. Our offense has no identity either. This is the most damning truth about JG which hasn't changed in 5 years. It's time...Josh, it's time. :tsk:

I love how we're down by a ton at halftime and the majority of the discussion on this board is about how our backup PG is the root of our problems....the kid who didn't event see the court until we were down 13-0.

Some of you guys are really, really priceless.

He played 11 guys that half.

Guys, there's so many valid criticisms. How do we keep filling game threads with invalid ones.

Yup! Pass cost us 19 points at least.

Nobody is saying that Tate is single-handedly losing us this game today. Groce - maybe. But not Tate.

What we are, have been, and will continue to say is that with Tate being bad both on offense and defense, it's more important to get Lucas minutes to acclimate him to the speed and physicality of B1G basketball than to continually trot out Tate to provide next to nothing.

I'm writing this solely for therapeutic reasons as I know it's not a particularly unique perspective. But I'm sick and sad at what Illinois MBB has become. I used to love LOVE watching this team, especially a Saturday afternoon game against a ranked IU team. I'd look forward to it all week. My dad would cook something delicious on the grill and we'd watch the game and win or lose it was usually a redeemable experience in some way. But that's been taken from me. Even in wins, I still can't enjoy watching this team play. And I hold BW and JG responsible. I'll always be loyal to the TEAM, but I just can't support this administration anymore. Sad time for the team and it's fans.

omg why are we having this conversation about TJL? He's a true freshman. It's not fair to draw any conclusions. The kid needs minutes.

I'd still rather have him out there over Tate.

Good lord we've spent all season yelling at Groce to give TJL more minutes, and now that he's in, we're all throwing him to the wolves.

He's definitely not part of the solution. I never said it was all in him but roll ahead with the Tate defense.

You don't have to back off focusing your comments on Tate. I'm agreeing with you! This is all Tate's fault.
