I was sincerely hoping this game would signal the continuance of a turning point having taken place against scUM. Just losing by less isn't acceptable. I live in Maryland; extra painful.
Mav had several jumpers but I'll concede "all game" wasn't correct. 2nd half definitely.
How about he play TJL,Nichols,DJW,Black, and Morgan and send a message either gets your heads together or be ready to come and sit next to me ,Tate ,and Mike
Not a bad loss...but missed a chance at a good win.

That second half reeked of low BB IQ, following a really poor decision by Groce to end the first half. This wasn't about Maryland playing better defense, this was about poor coaching and poor shot selection.
Jcl 3-11 from 3, Hill 1-6, Abrams a no show. What do you want Groce to do?
I don't think even 9-9 would do it, barring a magical run in the BIG Tourney. We just don't have the reputation it would take to overcome a 50-50 conference record. Could be wrong, obviously, but I agree that I don't see even 9-9 at any rate.
UGH.
Come up with an offense that doesn't rely almost exclusively on jump shots.

Both Tejon and Kipper were abysmal defensively too.
This was more shooting than coaching. Those shots were going in during the first half. Having said that, TA is the new Tate as far as 4 on 5 goes. Just because he's a freshman does not mean TJL should be sitting the last 4 minutes, which is on the coaches.
I honestly had us only winning 2 of our first 7 and thought things got much easier the final half of the schedule. However, I don't think any night is guaranteed L and any night is a for sure W.
With the streaky shooters we have, we're going to win some we shouldn't and lose some we shouldn't, everyone knew this back in October, just get into the midst of the schedule and people seem to think it comes down to lack of adjustments.

Yep, gotta sit the players that don't play well. Hill, Abrams, and Jcl should sit next game. Not sure how Groce didn't think of this. /sarcasm
Blowing a 10 point lead and not scoring for 8 mins in the second half isn't a bad loss?
Also, what wins do we have over a team we shouldn't this year?
While I agree with this in theory, you have to have the players to do it. And the easiest way to do it is to have quick guards that can create off the bounce. Opens the floor for everyone. And we flat out don't have a player like that. Lucas could be but he looked very passive today. In my opinion, that is the #1 reason our offense stalls out consistently. We don't have a player that break people down off the bounce
