how many scholarships do we have left in 2017? really dont want to lose Damonte. As JW alluded, I think BU will push players to their full potential...for Damonte I think that's 1st team all big 10 and leading a deep run in NCAAs. would love to see Frankie in the stands at Final Four in 2020.

The talent that Michigan State has, other than their point guard, is primarily underclassmen.
What hurt Coach Groce is lack of positional depth. Especially not having even an adequate point guard. We had a scholarship available which we gave to a walk on after the season started.

I think we need to put the Tilmon vs Smith importance in perspective. Tilmon is more important for next year. We don't have anyone than can fill that role next year. Smith can be more important over a 4 year college career. I think Tilmon is more important for Underwood. He can be a big part of getting this back on track and in the tournament the next couple years. And we know how that can work with a new coach showing success right away or not.
The NIT final is March 30.
Hate to say it, but bowing out on Wednesday really would not be the worst thing in the world.
I agree it might be best to get some answers about Walker and Tilmon in the next few days then waiting until April. These issues need to be resolved in the short term so we know if Walker and Tilmon are both leaving then Underwood can work to replace them both.

I agree but I want malcolm to win the tourney..... I'm conflicted
I'm torn on this one. I'm usually against the practice of "Creaning" but if there's a change of coach it might be in everyone's best interest to just start fresh. At the very least some serious conversations needs to take place so the players don't waist a year of eligibility and then have to sit out another year after a transfer.
Vice versa, players and signees should be released upon request when there is a coaching change.

Here is what I know from the Smith camp....Smith is weighing/pondering going to visit (unofficially) a few campuses within the next couple of weeks.
I know Kansas State (first high major offer) is on that list....There are a laundry list of coaches coming to see Smith this week: Texas, Bama, Mizzo, BC, Northwestern, ect.....As far as what Smith and family are thinking they are being real hush about whom or which way Smith is leaning...so IMO there is no clear cut front runner and if there is I have no clue which school it is.....so Illini is still in the hunt....I know BU has reached out to Smith...

It will be interesting to see if Jeffrey Carroll, OkState, does graduate this Spring and if so, where might he end up as a 5th year grad student. He had Hill like stats. Also, former Gary IN athlete Davon Dillard could be interesting. I can't believe BU wouldn't consider him if he does chose to transfer.

Not to go overboard about a guy who we simply looked at a roster and identified as eligible, but holy F would he change the outlook for next season.
Yes, can't imagine going into next year with your 3 leading scorers averaging 23 pts combined.
Obviously their ppg will increase with greater usage and pt and more shots and all that. The one thing that might be important to remember if Carrol transfers in is that he has zero experience with our current roster and we are gonna have a bunch of freshman. It may take some time to get a little chemistry going. Never know though I guess, maybe he will just come in and drop 18 and 7 right off the bat.

If Carroll does come, I think it's safe to say that DJW and/or AJ would leave. It's their minutes that he would be taking.
Also a good point.
Plus, Brad took him from a fairly average player in 15-16 and made him into an All B1G 12 second teamer this year. I don't think any conversation can take place until Carroll announces his intention. He might just end up staying at OkState. He is a Texas kid.
