No, you just hit Submit Reply a second too soon.

You're right, I had to laugh after my post. While composing it, the two tweets from Williams and Frasier were posted. I had just saw the Picket de-commitment request and was in a pretty negative frame of mind and was thinking the Illini could lose the whole class. Glad to see they are still on board......for now.

Haha... Not gonna lie I had this scene in my head last night when he got put back in the penalty box...

S&C: you have the privellages of not knowing what I know. Jamal Walker's hire set us back a nother decade.
so an asst coach pick can make or break a program for an entire decade?umh, gulp..., wow...,..really?

I wish Javon well, however given where we are going recruiting wise he was going to be recruited over very quickly. Underwood, Antigua and our rumored 3rd assistant aren't going to be satisfied with unranked (and not close to it) tweeners that don't bring a higher rated player with them. If I was giving Javon advice I would tell him to look at SLU or in the Valley, as I think that's where his game fits. As for the Illini - glad to have the schollie

I didn't want to get too pessimistic after Tilmon opted out, but man if we don't get some decent players to fill out this class we are looking at a bottom five finish in the B1G next year.

At best bottom 5. Underwood has really got some work to do.

I really liked JP and I believe he could have impacted our team positively...or any B10 team for that matter. unless you are truly one and done, every college player at good programs should expect to be "recruited over".

luckily I believe what BU said at his press conf: he doesn't recruit based on stars.

Hunger, tenacity, discipline will go along way....we will win!

Seriously doubt it. We have a new staff trying to get familiar with the players, and finalize the roster, including new recruits. Still missing one assistant. It is highly doubtful they will make RS decisions before they actually see players in workouts. These decisions are reserved for much later.
Unless they are leveraging. Telling him they plan to redshirt him the next season, then anticipating him asking a release from the LOI. To open up a scholarship

There is good news coming I think a lot of people are going to be surprised with what this staff brings in to offset departures.

Got to Love Frazier and Da' Monte loyalty they are going to strive under Coach Underwood's style of play.

This transformation for Illinois Basketball has not been easy for anyone it had to be done. The future for ILLINOIS BASKETBALL IS ORANGE BRIGHT.

Keep you ear to the ground We Will Win.

Ready for a surprise? Would love to have Mohammed Bamba and Knox/Bowen for the players we just lost.

Haha! I guess we'd all take that trade. Let's dream big, right?

PG - Tremont Waters
CG - Trent Frazier
G - Da'Monte Williams
WF - Kevin Knox
C/F - Mo Bamba
PF - Carlton Bragg (transfer - sit 1, play 2)
F/C - Kerem Kanter (5th year)

Am I wrong in thinking that the main reason why Bragg liked Illinois was Groce and now that Groce is gone the chances of him coming here now are very slim?

Walker is still here and he was recruited by Coach O as well

Free article posted by piper said that we'll be in the mix due to familiarity with Antiguia (when he was at UK) and Walker here. His final three were KU, UK, and UI

I have intentionally sat back for the last few days to let the hysteria die down from the Tillman decommitment and now the Pickett decommitment...I have been an Illini fan for over 40 years and the best teams I have seen play consisted of players who desired to wear the orange and blue...I do not see these decommitments as a negative whatsoever… If these players really do not want to be at the University of Illinois then give them their release and wish them luck… I truly believe that coach Underwood will find players who will fit his system as he described during his press conference… These are the type of players we want as long as they want to wear the orange and blue… I have no doubt the coach Underwood and his ever-growing staff already have players in mind Who fit the system… Some of you may think that losing the above players puts us back in our recovery as a basketball program… I disagree… I believe this allows coach Underwood to not have to work around players he did not initially recruit and who do not clearly fit his system… Now he can go after players that do fit his system… I think our basketball program just got better over the last few days

Yeah right.A highly ranked big fits most systems, let's not pretend losing Tilmon is a good thing

Amauri Hardy is interesting. He looks like a guy that Bob Huggins would love at WV. But I'm skeptical that both Michigan schools looked over him. Izzo already has a talented PG and will always be in the mix for more 5 stars so I'm not too worried about that. But Beilein is pretty good at finding and developing lower ranked guards so I can't believe he would miss a good PG in his own backyard.

This is a very important time so early in BU's tenure. Groce chose to fill his open roster spots with 5th years and transfers (McLaurin, Rice, Starks, Lewis, Cosby). Only two of those 5 were successful. In hindsight, it would have been nice to use at least a couple of those spots on high school kids.

So everyone here makes fun of Missouri and other programs for being shady and now Illinois hires Orlando and is after Bragg Jr. New day in Illinois Athletics. I'm okay with it but let's not act like Illinois is full of saints.

Tilmon/Mizzou is a completely different situation than Bragg/Illinois. But I agree, everyone knows recuiting is shady right now. But there is a right way to be shady and a wrong way to be shady. Some coaches are much more sleezy than others.

I'm over Tilmon, but I have one last thought I'd like opinions on that no one is talking about.

Isn't Porter Jr. talking to Tilmon a violation of "NCAA Bylaw - 13.02.13 Representative of Athletics Interests" since his father is now a paid coach at Missouri. I understand that the two kids could talk before the hiring, but after he got hired he was still talking to Tilmon openly on snapchat, Twitter and other platforms.

Isn't against the rules for coaches family members (spouse, kids, mom. etc.) to recruit and encourage them to change their mind.

Just making sure I'm not losing my mind.

Any thoughts on this?

Not if Tilmon initiates the contact.
