I like to think he's waiting to see what Bridges does. If Bridges stays and Jemarl Baker announces for Kentucky on Wednesday, I think our chances go up. Maybe not to very good, but at least 50/50.
Hard to tease out the logic here, but if this is saying that UI is in 3rd and the only way we back into him is because of logjams at UK and MSU, that doesn't seem right. If he believes they will be better / more visible than UI next year, with more entrenched coaching (2 hall of famers) he would have picked one of them already. He has offers to both allegedly. It's not like he's waiting to see what happens because he only gets an offer if space frees up. He's not a one and done, so even if it looks 'promising' for his freshman year, he'd have to believe MSU and UK are both targeting 5 stars at that position in 2018, 2019 etc.
On the other hand, he clearly has a BIG offer for UI where he would be featured, play a national schedule, get all the playing time he can handle and the resulting exposure. If the kid thinks he's going to the League and MSU and UK are the best places to do that, why would he wait? You have an offer, go ahead and take one.
Maybe orange colored glasses, but it seems more likely to me that UI remains in the running and he's waiting to see if there will be anyone over 6'6 on the team other than Finke to play with him. However, it could be like a poster yesterday implied that he has 'verballed' to somebody and wants his 'hat ceremony'. If that's the case, I don't understand why he's debating visiting UK or OSU this week. Seems odd to me and at least in his public persona, he doesn't seem like the 'hat ceremony' type. We shall see shortly I suppose.
