Read the days posts, you'll see. When you come on to IL if you click on the little blue box to the left of the thread title it will automatically take you to the first unread post (if you are signed in). That way you miss none of the exciting info put out here on a daily basis. :thumb:

I'm aware, thanks. I was multitasking and didn't read the previous couple of posts.

So with a commitment date set, whatever way the winds are blowing tend to be the landing spot. SO far we have heard LSU is the leader. Any other news out there?

I would be surprised if it was LSU but there are stranger things that happen in recruiting.

Like to see MA here, no transfers from SC, so I'm guessing all clear there. Really hard to get a read on it. Tate saying LSU leading, Another Wednesday with suspense.
Agau looks to be leaning towards SMU, find out Friday. Wondering if BU being known as tough guy scaring them away. Hope for the best. Glad coach is a tough guy, we need some of that so the:illinois: can get there swag back.;)

Guessing Alstork to LSU and Agau to SMU. Alstork seemed to enjoy that visit and has a staff connection. Haven't heard anything on Agau other than the article with the SMU board, which doesn't bode well.

Also, as others have mentioned, let JCL go wherever he wants. He's an unpaid amateur athlete who has to sit out a year anyway.

Regarding the scholarship situation at S Carolina, they are even at this point. This was reported earlier today..

USC was one over the 13-man limit after Justin Minaya joined the 2017 signing class, but is back to even. The Gamecocks are waiting on Wright State graduate transfer Mark Alstork and UNC Wilmington transfer C.J. Bryce to make their decisions after each visited USC.

This is laughable to me. Truly good players expect their coach to be tough but fair. They want a coach that will get the best out of everyone. And if they are giving 100 percent they have nothing to fear from a tough coach. If a player doesn't pick Illinois it won't be because of BU's system being too tough. As of now his track record as a winner should speak volumes to a guy he is recruiting. And players like to be on programs that win. Unfortunately that statement doesn't resemble Illinois as of yet.

Have we heard from any former players about his personality and what he is like to play for?

Multiple things can be true at once: losing JCL would hurt us pretty bad and I think all of us would hate to see him go. Especially since he's a starter, undoubtedly our best shooter a really good kid/leader who could turn into a leading scorer and one of our most valuable players as a jr/sr. But that real value still hasn't been seen yet and comes from us banking on him making big strides in development when it comes to ballhandling/driving, passing and defense in what would be his first full healthy offseason here (which I definitely think he can do). So it's ok to say it would be a pretty big blow to lose him and also say he still has strides to make as a player. Most underclassmen do.

Here's hoping you're wrong on at least one of your guesses if not both of them. 1 out of 2 would definitely be better than 0 out of 2 - go Illini.

South Carolina's TeMarcus Blanton announces retirement from basketball. I imagine this frees up a scholarship.

http://thespun.com/sec/south-carolina/temarcus-blanton-retirement-south-carolina

But aside from that, this is kind of a sad story. Apparently he has had some injuries and his body has not responded to therapy or whatever and he is forced to retire from basketball. I can't imagine a college player retiring happens very often (I mean this in no way to be humorous as, like I said, it seems like a sad end for this player. On the other hand, evidently he is doing well scholastically making academic honor roll several times).
