Panama brought our midfielders back down to reality. Need to out score Panama in the next two so we win division. I liked what I saw from Agudelo in sub role. Matthew Doyle, Matthew Tomaszewicz, and Taylor Twellman are insightful follows on Twitter for USMNT if interested

That Honduras-French Guiana result may change to a 3:0 result in favor of Honduras as French Guiana used a player, Florent Malouda, who had 80 caps as a member of the French national team which would make him ineligible under the tournament's regulations. This is currently under review by the Gold Cup disciplinary committee.

USA 3:2 Martinique

Couple of goals from the youngster Jordan Morris. Martinique is decent enough but the U.S. allowed them to stay in this match longer than they probably should have.

They have some real problems with communication on the defensive side, and their passing and first touches were too soft and too hard, respectivley... a bad combination!!!

They need someone to calm them down in the midfield. Not a big fan of McCarty, but he may be the answer to help the cohesion.

How does Hedges not take the yellow card after getting beat like a drum is beyond me. And Guzan's flub on that shot was brutal.

I hope they make all 6 changes that they are allowed going into the knockout rounds. Although I'm not sure who else they put on the 40 man roster.

I just wish there were more youth players from Europe on it. IMO there isn't much need for old MLS guys in the Gold Cup. You already know what they are capable of. The 2 biggest things to watch for IMO.....

-Kenny Saief. He choose the USA over Israel and this is the first time he will be back in the US since he was 3 years old. He plays for Gent who was in the UCL and Europa last year (they beat Spurs 3-2 on aggregate) and he is one of their best players. I've never watched him play before so I am very excited. He can play left back and left wing similar to Fabian Johnson. My hope is he plays well in the Gold Cup and him and Fabian control the left in Russia next summer.

-Acosta and Roldan in midfield. These 2 are expected to be paired up in central midfield. Both are only 21 years old and hopefully this a good step towards getting rid of the aging Bradley and Jones midfield.

The Gold Cup during the Confed cup is always a B MLS squad. Brek Shea scored the game winner in 2013 lol

Pulisic was on it but I doubt he comes as he’s traveling with BVB right now on their preseason tournament.

Bradley, Altidore we’re also on it.

Costa Rica 3:0 French Guiana

And CONCACAF did award the 3:0 victory to Honduras as a result of French Guiana allowing Florent Malouda to play. They also fined French Guiana an undisclosed amount (some thought that it may be their entire tournament share) and Malouda is suspended for two matches as well as a concurrent stadium ban.

Canada 0:0 Honduras

Costa Rica and Canada are through from Group A to the quarterfinals. Costa Rica will face the Group B runner-up in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Canada will face the Group C runner-up in Glendale, AZ on Thursday.

Honduras probably is through as well though they have to await the results of matches involving Martinique (vs. Panama) and El Salvador (vs. Jamaica) among teams currently in 3rd place in their respective groups.

U.S. up 1:0 at half on Nicaragua. Joe Corona with the goal in the 36th minute.

Based on Panama's victory earlier, the U.S. needs to win by at least a 3:0 score to win Group B and avoid Costa Rica in the quarterfinals.

Also reports coming out of the 6 players the U.S. will bring in for the knockout round. They will call up Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore, Darlington Nagbe, Tim Howard, Jesse Gonzalez, and Clint Dempsey.

Six countries (mainly in the Middle East and North Africa) that have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar in the last month have demanded FIFA strip the nation of the 2022 World Cup and have threatened to boycott the World Cup: http://www.espnfc.us/blog/fifa/243/...qatar-of-2022-world-cup-says-gianni-infantino

Of the six countries that are threatening to boycott, only Saudi Arabia and Egypt are in any sort of position to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

I'm still surprised Qatar 2022 has lasted this long. These six countries alone probably won't even make FIFA flinch, but hopefully more countries join. I know nothing about Qatar's involvement with terrorism, but if it's true then I would imagine there are many other countries out there that could easily justify boycotting.

And, of course, if the 2022 bid is opened back up then USA will be the favorites because of the easy accessibility.

Better performance tonight albeit against a far inferior opponent. Gonna be interesting to see how they perform in the knockout stage with the players that are gonna be called up.

The U.S. will face either Honduras or El Salvador on Wednesday night at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Match will air at 8:00 PM CT on FS1.

And in other news, Costa and Matic, aren't traveling with Chelsea on their pre-season Asia tour. Signs of possible transfer news coming up. Matic will definitely be leaving now that the Bakayoko signing is official. Chelsea might be waiting on finding Costa's replacement before the sell him. We'll see...

The U.S. did call up the 6 players mentioned in the post I made yesterday. The 6 players that are leaving include Brad Guzan, Sean Johnson, Alejandro Bedoya, Cristian Roldan, Kelyn Rowe, and Dom Dwyer.
