Are we certain Ayo has the skill set to be a PG? I haven't seen him play any more than a highlight reel or two, but I remember a time when JCL was our PG of the future.

Also, I get the feeling Mark Smith isn't going to be eating up a lot of time as a PG. I guess this could be a moot point if we truly play positionless ball.

Not even in the same ball park, Ayo can absolutely be a PG or "lead guard". Again, moot if he wants to come here.

Can we get Ayo by himself or is he a definite package deal?

Sure they will try, but think Pearson comes with not big issue. Anyone who wants to be on the team, will have to work and earn there spot. Always remember acedemics can always come into play. We only have 3slots but all say we got 4, that becomes another issue. Just like someone to commit, break the ice.;):illinois:

Did we play a single game on CBS, FOX or ESPN last year? I remember a few on ESPN2 but it seemed like pretty much everything was BTN.

Think that's right. The NIT games were on ESPN and ESPN2, and we had a couple ESPN2 games during the season (ACC/BIG challenge), but most games were on BTN or a few streaming (ESPN3 ESPNU or BTN+). There was one (VCU) on CBSSN. Not sure if that's regional or something else.

We have good coverage, but we're not nationally relevant. I expect we'll move in the right direction by getting back to the dance, but I'm not expecting to crack the rankings yet. We'll see. Gotta lot to prove.

That's where I am. Eager for someone to break the seal on this class

Not sure KU is a big threat in this one. They have Moore now, and also have a chicago pg commit in the '19 class I think. Have to think the Irvins know that potentially having 3 of their pg's on the same team means two aren't starting the game.

Yep. They got Markese Jacobs. Kinda like Sherron Collins with more lift. From Chicago, but he just transferred to another state. The exodus from Chicago continues. Kansas is all over Chicago.

They can gladly have Jacobs, just have to stave them (and all others) off of Miller.

Where'd he go? More like Snacks is all over Chicago.

I'm optimistic that BU can maximize the potential of our roster, whatever that might be. Am hopeful that involves a return to the dance. Would be ecstatic if it meant getting votes again.

It's not so much how much were the illini on national tv as much as how often the big ten was. The sell isn't for the team to remain mediocre.

More often than not it seems KU starts two point guards. Starting two (or three) from Chicago could be a selling point.

Rumors from a couple months ago were that Illini cooled on Moore because it was clear via Irvins that he and Ayo weren't going to the same place. Not sure why that would change now.

He brings the ball up the court at Morgan Park. The other guards there were Cam Irvin( a 3 point shooter) & freshman Burnett( another shooter and scorer). Ayo was a scorer, had decent assist numbers but that doesn't say much about making everyone around you better, especially at the college level.

At the rate Self is going he might try to have all guards from Chicago. They got Moore coming in next year, after sitting out a year. They got Newman from Miss. coming in this year after sitting out. One in, one out every year.

Here's Joe's top 10 from May. Will be interesting to see his new list.

This would be a home run class. Nothing less

Conditt better set an official and visit again before Castleton's official. Or better yet just commit now. Spot is Conditt's for the taking.

True. Time to be aggressive close big George.

I'd still be just as happy with Castleton, though !

We might as well make this our recruiting class and start on 2019

I'd be very happy with those 4. And like Joe said, all 4 had great last weekends and offers are and will be coming in.

I'd agree with that. I kind of get the sense that it would be unlikely to get Griffin and THT right? For those in the know - wouldn't they view themselves as looking at the same position on the roster?

Jeesh, the guy I want the most might end up being the hardest to get.

2018 Simeon Talen Horton-Tucker just received an offer from #Georgetown

I hate seeing these offers. Hopefully, they're about over . . . It's great news, though, that Griffin is visiting this Friday. Now we get a chance to see what kind of closer BU is. Anyone expect any commitments in August? I'm hoping but I'm not expecting.

On Friday staff is going to get a good look see at Griffin against some B1G players in open gym. BTW, his AAU coach is an Illini grad '05 and staunch O&B supporter. If Griffin shows well, this could be our first '018 commit.
