Griffin has emerged as the top dog for the 4th scholly.

Hearing Ayo, Conditt, Pearson, and Griffin.

First domino to drop soon...:shield:

Sounds most realistic actually in order I think it would be Griffin, Ayo, Pearson and then Conditt if we were to oversign and take 4.

Finke ship has sailed, passed up....THT although very good is not nearly the athletic type that Griffin seems to be and Griffin has quite possibly played his way past him as far as ranking as hard as that is to believe based on limited exposure. :chief:

Please what? You think THT is as athletic as Griffin? No way, he is a stud ball player and we all know he is your wish to be an ILLINI, he is not the most athletic 6.5" guy however out there. Just my opinion as you have yours.

I just don't see it happening and personally think Griffin offers more long term than THT does. I am not discounting either in anyway, just offering my opinion.

I do think Griffin ends up ranked higher when all is said and done. I also would have a preference to see him commit over THT and I hope I starts a chain reaction at the end of the week.:chief:

I'll take you up on that bet

Without doing some research, I can't think of the last year where the team didnt have attrition. Number of scholarships is not an issue. It never is.

The last year we didn't have attrition was in the last century. It's pretty much the norm in college basketball these days, and every coach recruits assuming they will have attrition.

Athletic in what way? He might have THT a little bit in the vertical department, but THT is a man amongst boys out there.

THT also has a way more all around game and a had a great final session with Team Rose.

All that said, I really like how Griffin would fit in here and would take him in a heartbeat.

Sometimes it is a medical redshirt , and I'd say a larger % is that type of thing.:(

Players on medical redshirt are still on scholarship so that doesn't open a scholarship. It is just the norm these days for someone to leave for more playing time. It happens everywhere. Fans often worry about scholarship numbers but Illinois rarely fills all thirteen.

'013-014 team had no "forced" attrition.

Gotta love Big O:cool:

Very much so :thumb:
This all looks like a positive sign for us in the long run! Just gotta start doing well and keep at it on the recruiting trail and we may have some great teams on hand in the next couple of years!

Just want to point out we only have 3 schollies for 2018. I know we can over sign, but still only 3.

While this is true, it doesn't mean we should just take anyone for that suddenly-free spot. We've talked about oversigning for Ayo, but it could also be seen as oversigning for Pearson. If Ayo truly won't come without Pearson, then fine I suppose, but have the other schools offering Ayo also offered Pearson?

Are you saying that Griffin isn't much more athletic than THT?

Adam Miller is saying a combo of he and Ayo would be good at basketball and Ayo agrees

If Ayo is as good as advertised isn't it rather unlikely they would play together even if they both go to the same school?

......because "he'd go pro"??

I think you can be a star in college and an elite recruit and player without being good enough to leave for the NBA early.
