I am wondering if there is any actual obligation, though. What if the kid decides he doesn't want to hold up his end? I am honestly wondering how that would work here.
Also, it is a broad question. Do parents sign their kids up to model for commercials or something like that and take the money? I'm sure. I think it's kind of creepy and personally wouldn't do it, but I'm sure that happens all the time.
“I think the expectation of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI is that this is just the tip of the iceberg,” said former federal prosecutor Edward McDonald, now an attorney with Dechert LLP in New York. “Some of these people have been charged are beginning to cooperate and there’s others who may have been in the line of fire. It could explode and be [dozens] of people, if not hundreds.”
“The federal government’s investigation into sports companies and basketball coaches at numerous colleges across the nation is extremely troubling and puts into serious question the NCAA’s ability to oversee its own institutions.”
That's what I was thinking, and that's probably how it was done in almost every case![]()
That would put the parents in the uncomfortable position of having to claim one of their less athletically inclined children as gambling losses.![]()
Reading Phog message board has been a nice diversion. Snacks gets brought up a couple times, Cliff a couple of times, and Bragg a few. All speculation, however there is a nervous anger on their board
If it was a kid in the class of 2006 that would have been a freshman for the 2007 basketball season.....Mr Kevin Durant at Texas?Gregg Doyle had a nice article about all this.
He referenced a conversation he overheard by a "SEC" coach in 2006 (the coach didn't know Doyle was there) lamenting the fact he had somehow been outbid by "Big12" coach for the services of a highly sought after recruit.
No clue who "SEC" coach was since it was pre-Coach Cal time period, but I thought "Big12" coach had to be Self.
Can someone please explain how Kentucky and Coach Cal are not implicated in this already?

Or it could be because Kentucky is a Nike school and this scandal started with Adidas.
Nike is the next shoe to drop. So to speak.
I don't think he has to cheat anymore. He has a heck of a proven pitch to a potential one and done.
We'll see how good Rauf's sources are -- says Adidas trying to get Zion Williamson to Kansas.

Cal's just smarter than the rest based on his experience. The payoffs as so far removed from Cal he'd never be implicated.
I would pay money to watch this happen.
