Sorry, but every time I see the word "vibes" from here on out, I'm going to think of the WF board. :D

LOL... get used to it. I saw the hashtag #ykdv a lot last night, that people were tweeting to Ayo. Being the old man, I didn't know what it stood for. Finally found it after awhile. You Know Da Vibe... Seems to be the new hip thing the kids (or kidz) are tweeting.

#ykdv :chief:

So if we receive no more commits for the rest of 2018, is this recruiting season still considered a success? Just curious.

I say yes. The odds of illinois not filling those 2 other scholarships this year is very, very low but any class featuring Ayo is a smashing success.

Yes. Aside from being a dynamite 5* PG, Ayo's commitment puts us on the recruiting map and takes us a step forward toward making it "cool" to go to Illinois again.

So yes, in that sense it's a success.

Would it be a dream class or the ideal class? No. We really need frontcourt help. Badly. And if we fail to get a legit frontcourt prospect in this class, that will be a bit disappointing.

Was Ayo's announcement originally planned for Monday? If so, anyone know why it got moved up? Just wondering if this was pushed by the coaching staff to potentially help with the official this weekend. Or, if Ayo and THT truly don't want to play together, Ayo pushed it earlier to ensure THT couldn't commit before him. Just random thoughts.

Ayo is probably the most important recruit of this century. Sure Dee was a bigger get and we've had so many good players come here in the best 17 years, but his commitment means so much more than just getting a top flight guard (and IMO (might be a little bias now thats he's an Illini) a fantastic human being).

He opens Chicago back wide open. If Underwood can coach the way he always has, it will 100x easier to recruit kids from Chicago, and higher talent overall. Sometimes it takes a kid like this to come in and show talent doesn't need to travel to the state of Kentucky or NC to get exposer and a good college experience.

And it also shows that Chin Coleman is a legit recruiting threat in Chicago. I doubted how he would fair. Not sure who it was, but there was some account associated with the MIF/Ayo camp that tweeted out about how important it was that Chin was an ex MIF coach and the kind of relationship he built with them. This is a strength that's been missing for a very very long time.

We are set up perfectly for Liddell, Okoro and possibly Whitney. I'd love all three. Ditto for Miller in 2020. Would love an early commit (or two) from a '19. Pipe dream? Don't think so.

My vote, yes. I would like more, but getting the state's best player, that happens to be from Chicago, that has good relations with our top prospects for next year, is a victory.

Asked Ayo Dosunmu if he'll recruit Talen Horton-Tucker: "Whatever is needed to get us where we all want to be, I’m on board with that!"

I refuse to believe that Ayo has hate for THT....everything I see from him and his family just doesn't wear that color. I personally believe that the Ayo/THT thing was built up by the normal AAU blowhards.

They operate like amateurs (so many examples of tweets and other crap), but college recruiting is handled without all that drama. THT is likely a winner and let's hope he approaches this professionally with as little baggage as possible.

Big visit weekend ahead for #Duke, #UofA and others. @CoreyEvans_10 has a full rundown http://rvls.co/ConferenceCall

THT listed under other visits. Tyger OV to Purdue; Langford and Garland to Indy. Sure hope they don't land both of those guys on top of who they've already landed.

Hate to say it, but Archie Miller is going to have IU in the national conversation very soon. They will be right there with Michigan State at the top of the conference. I think we can get there, too, but they have a pretty high ceiling.

I don't think their ceiling is any higher than ours. Probably lower, really, if we could ever actually become the destination for in-state talent. They just have a head start.

I would push for miller in 2 years. They need to go big and nothing but big in 2019, unless they gonna play Anthony at the 5.

It's my understanding that we have 5 scholarships available for '19.

Presumably thinking, we would not take 5 bigs in that class alone, and given our guard & wing depth, and the Mark Smith & Ayo factor of possibly going pro... I would call it more than an educated guess that we could take another pg in '19.

No way we would EVER pass on Cole Anthony iether..

EJ, Okoro, and Whitney, give you players that can fill the 3-5 spots. Add another true big & a pg, and that's one hell of a need filling and well balanced class! :shield:

In the event some are thinking THT might believe we're already loaded at guard, I think we just need to look at the two schools leading in his recruitment. Neither Michigan State nor Iowa State is going to just hand him a job on Day 1. Division 1 basketball is competitive.

His presence in Champaign next fall will give us one of the Top 5 backcourts in the US, with a minimum of three guards on the court at all times.

I can't even fathom how fast our Offense will be, with presumably a swarming/denying defense.

MSU took Aaron Henry they don't have a spot for THT.

Last I thought we heard for THT the other top contenders were GT and ISU.

IU is currently the 4th best program in their own state :D

Not saying they can't get back to Blueblood status soon, given their name and pedigree, but. Does blueblood / Storied Program status ever get revoked? Because if anyone has spent over a generation not living up to its own name, it's IU.

They have had good seasons much more recently than us, unfortunately. Still a head start.

Don't need guards IMHO for '19. Would love those 3 as listed, especially with development of bigs on board.
