People in towns that are friends of friends love to play telephone. I know somebody from the same area who said the "dream school" thing is being really blown out of proportion. Lots of kids have dream schools growing up.

I heard the Illinois visit was very very eye opening for him and put us ahead. Who knows who's right? Maybe both rumors have been right at one time.. maybe neither.

Watch him end up at duke..

I hope you are right because he could be really good for us. I have heard the same thing about him being impressed on his visit to Illinois. I think the thing we have going for us is that he will probably visit Champaign more often in next year than UNC. It also will help having Ayo in his ear.

Another recruiting insider! :hurl:

Lol! Not an insider by any means. Just know some of staff in B/N HS and on the THT ordeal I knew a guy that shared an email from an inside source. I have been perusing this site for years and it is first time I have ever had info and most likely will not again. Thought this board was for sharing what you hear from reliable sources. Guess you would just like conjecture and hopes and dreams!

So will Ayo sign and fax his LOI early and then have the press conference, or just send it in at the press conference?

I was kidding of course. I coached high school baseball and officiate high school basketball and totally get that people receive some information at times. I’ll gladly share anything I hear from the northern suburbs of Madison, Wisconsin, lol.

I get it! I was hesitant about sharing so I am probably over sensitive! I don’t want to get run out of town like some of the others that have been labeled as insiders. I am a coach as well and that’s how I get into some of these circles. If I hear any more I will share

I am fairly new here. Are "insiders" unwelcome? I have seen some negative comments over the last couple months.

I can't believe this is still being done by fax machine... our office hasn't had one for two or three years now.

“This NLI may be delivered by express mail, courier service, regular mail, email or facsimile. An NLI submitted to an institution electronically is permissible.”

The rules says a school can email the letter of intent to a recruit, but many use a PDF form. That means the documents need to be printed out, signed, scanned and then emailed or faxed to the college.

Electronic signatures are also allowed.

In the past, folks have come on here and proclaimed that they new recruit X was going to commit to the beloved. They had inside info. When that player went elsewhere, their credibility was damaged. It is always interesting that prior to a big announcement, there always seem to be a lot of "new" posters on the board that seem to know something. I don't know if it is old posters trying to use a different name, people from other schools just messin' around or if they really are new posters. I would guess a combination.

People love inside information, when it is entertaining, positive for the O&B and agrees with the thesis in their head. When any of the above three items are not met, folks don't like it.

One man's opinion....and welcome to the madness!

For a lot of official papers, fax is the only (or at least the most convenient) way to ship them long distances instantly.

We try to avoid the types that just blatantly poach information from paid sites. If Dan catches a whiff of that he usually takes care of that stuff, as it is against rules.

Otherwise, if you know a guy who knows a guy, or even if you know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy, you're welcome to share whatever dubious information you have. It's important to remember that this is a free, public forum, and that anybody can read it.

This place's relationship with insiders is complicated, and mostly stupid.

In keeping with the Big Lebowski theme,

You might want to watch out that front window, Larry. Son, this is what happens when you claim insider information.

Underwood presser in a few minutes-
http://www.fightingillini.com/watch/?Live=1352&type=Live

Following the commitment of 2017 Illinois Mr. Basketball recipient Mark Smith just six weeks after taking over in Champaign, Underwood has made another statement on the recruiting trail by landing the top 25-ranked Dosunmu, a McDonald's All-America Game candidate and the highest-rated guard to join the Fighting Illini program since Dee Brown signed in November 2001.

If you think that's bad, I need to write a letter of recommendation for a student to a school that only accepts them via snail mail.
