Signing day presser scheduled for Wednesday (not sure the time), so appears they're expecting Ayo's letter of intent to arrive early that day.

#illini hoops signing day presser scheduled for Wednesday.
Dan Hartleb and Nancy Fahey lead off before Brad Underwood.

This is the first time I've seen this said anywhere...

Okoro's family and Ayo's are very close.. Okoro really likes Illinois for multiple reasons.

I think he commits to Illinois and possibly sooner rather than later.

We are 2nd behind North Carolina for Okoro's services. Ayo might help us to close gap but this is where we stand right now.

Would you care to re-post the link to that article? I would like to see.

No article. I meant the chatter that NC was his dream school. Check my posts from July of ‘16 and March of ‘17.

*Disclaimer: Not trying to be insider. Just have heard the rumor from someone very close to the (direct) source.

I think we will be competitive in the recruitment of Okoro. Historically Illinois is strongest with central Illinois players. We become weaker with players ranked in the top 25, but still strong (Cook, HRF, Griffin).

Having a great need at PF/C and his relationship with coaches and players (Ayo) will help. I think we land him, not sure if NC's interest will wane.

We'll know in due time. I've heard the same thing: that UNC is a fairly heavy favorite. The big question is: will they recruit him very hard? If not, Illinois becomes the favorite, I'd think.

Just because you've heard it doesn't make it true.

We both likely have our "sources" and I've heard we are in great shape with Okoro especially once Ayo signs.

Did I hear that Okoro's parents are both professors at ISU? If so, why would they want him to go to an institution with academic fraud in UNC?

Its his dream school. Angered another ACC program this summer by blowing them off to spend more time at UNC on his visit. I have heard this from people that would know here in town. Very few times do I hear something of value but this is one of those cases.

Hopefully he learns more about Underwood and staff and the benefits of staying close to home, instead of playing for good ole Roy...

People in towns that are friends of friends love to play telephone. I know somebody from the same area who said the "dream school" thing is being really blown out of proportion. Lots of kids have dream schools growing up.

I heard the Illinois visit was very very eye opening for him and put us ahead. Who knows who's right? Maybe both rumors have been right at one time.. maybe neither.

Watch him end up at duke..

Exactly, the fraud was institutional and organized. NCAA copped out by saying they don't weigh in on academic matters only athletic ones. Since when, they instituted the prop 48 and other academic guidelines that UNC tried to work around.

Once again if they were Davidson, Charlotte, East Carolina, etc.. they would of been punished dearly.

EJ Liddel compares to Antoine Walker as HS juniors IMHO. He will climb to top 50 by senior year. Great motor and production, good size.

It’s his Aunt and Uncle, I believe. I think they are his legal guardians.

I think his parents are still in Nigeria.

EJ is highly underrated by national rankings. Could be Illinois Mr. Basketball over Ayo.

I think being a junior, he would have to have a phenomenal season to win it over Ayo. Unless Ayo just has a subpar season. I would rather Ayo win it, then EJ take the trophy next year. That is, of course, as long as he commits to the beloved, giving us 3 straight Mr. BB!!!
