Krutwig and Curbelo would have the offense humming with passes zipping around. For those that watch Loyola - How’s his defense?

Cameron Kruftwig, C Loyola, Il. One of the most efficient centers in the country. Would be a great 1 year replacement for Kofi. Rumblings he is a grad transfer would like to finish up close to home. Algonquin, Ill.
Don’t think that’s happening.

Krutwig outplayed Reuvers this season head to head and played even with Potter. He's BIG ready. Go get him BU.

Yeah, he'd be a very good band aid 5. Not only is he a good player, but he buys us another year to get a grade A 5. And given where we're at (in the calendar) and our looming gaping hole, that would be huge.

Krutwig’s skill let lends well to BU’s spread. But his big body and good hands also lends well to keeping with the pick and roll stuff we currently do. He’d be an interesting add in terms of what philosophy BU would move forward with post Kofi and Ayo.

My hypothesis...is maybe that's what BU was teasing about at OSU press conf....Krutwig verbal commit?

Interesting that Michigan is not on the list for Burnett..

Are we in one of Podziemski's favorites? I really like Schutt, but might actually prefer Podziemski.

Where has this talk been outside of IL Board?

No clue but objectively 2021 has been a dumpster fire in regards to recruiting. We had 5 or 6 wings visit for the last game of the season in a thriller where we ended it with Kofi blocking Garza and landed 1 of the 5 wings there on that visit and he wasn't one of the above the rim bouncy types we needed.

It's nice to have a skilled forward coming and Goode will fill a role at Illinois sooner rather than later but we need a bouncy forward type and probably another big that is ready to contribute by his sophomore year. Maybe Lieb is that guy but I wouldn't necessarily count on it.

First off, the sky is far from falling on this program. Ayo/Kofi are almost certainly gone after this year. There's a chance (though I'll say very small) everyone else returns (that includes Frazier and DMW). Thats a good foundation to build off of.

Yes, we will need more than Goode next year. The transfer market will be an absolute circus. Take advantage of it, and we could pull a couple guys who would easily be able to bump up our talent. Nows not the time to worry about next years team.

Valid concerns on missing guys like Washington, Nesbitt, and Jones. But those like Mac, Christie, and Hopkins are going to be battles, unless you're Duke, Kentucky, or Kansas. Rare wins at that level of recruiting for a team that hasn't made the tournament in almost a decade. I squarely side with anyone on the disappointed side of things, but we're far from having a depleted roster.

I agree that we need that bouncy wing type (was the last one Brian Randle?) but I really want to see us add someone who can drive to the basket and finish. As of now Curbelo is the only one on next year's roster that I would trust doing that. Can Miller (and maybe Hawkins) improve on that before next season? Sure, but I'd still like more of them on the roster.

But not going to lie, I’d feel better if we had more than Goode committed thus far. I’m sure we’ll never know why some of our targets chose to go elsewhere. One thing I will say is that it has been some time since Illinois has been in tourney. Sure we can say they would have made it if tourney was held, but recruits didn’t get to see that. And this year the success is viewed as in large part because of two guys that many feel won’t be here playing with a new recruit. So though we like to talk about the great history of Illinois and that we appear to be back at least at some level, recruits don’t remember the former and might wonder if the latter is sustainable. But other schools overcome similar situations in recruiting, so certainly can see reason for concern. For my part I’m willing to wait and see how this plays out and have faith in the staff that brought in the players that have expectations so high.

Is there a connection with him and Adam Miller? Any word on why it didn't work out for him at Texas Tech?

He played with Ayo his freshman year at Morgan Park. I believe Miller transferred in when Nimari transferred to California where he played alongside Coleman Hawkins.

He left because of PT. McClung committed/transferred to TT after Nimari did and ate into his PT. Same with Burton, I believe. Those two combine for 50 minutes per game in the backcourt.

No official confirmation, but their fans seem to be speculating it's some combination of not enough minutes, poor culture fit, homesickness, and/or a lack of patience due to the influence of outsiders telling him that he should be a one-and-done.

Looking at his stats, he gets to the line and shoots FTs at a high percentage (89%). Pretty solid defender. Overall shooting is...not good. He's 4/23 on the year from 3-pt range (17%).
