Rumor he's looking to grad transfer and wants to be closer to home. BU was giddy in a recent press conference. Some speculation a Krutwig transfer was the reason why.

Minor quibble: Champaign is farther from Algonquin than Chicago is. Obviously, if he truly wants a bigger stage and test, CU's proximity is about as good as it gets for him.

How is Champaign-Urbana closer to Algonquin than Chicago? I'm confused by the proximity thing. Unless you mean he wants to play on a bigger stage and still be relatively close to home.

You got me. I didn't look up his hometown before posting.
He has a pretty good gig covering Illini games on the radio. Broadcasting has a lot of perks that coaching can't offer. He still is very involved in the program, but he has a set schedule, an off-season, and no one blames him when the team stinks. It's a heck of a lot more stable than the "what have you done for me lately" world of coaching/recruiting.
Surprised there isn't more buzz on here about the possibility of Burnett. That would be a huge addition. He was a top 25 recruit just a few months ago. I certainly wouldn't hold a handful of missed 3's against him. He's a freshman.
We love our freshmen despite uneven play during stretches from all of them.

Burnett was the highest ranked TT recruit of all time. Staff is playing this one very close to the vest. Some of the leaks in the past didn't pan out. The 2021 class is clearly going to lean heavily on the transfer portal.
The one thing I can't figure out is originally he moved to the West Coast because his Mom got a job out there. I'm not sure why his desire is to come back to Chicago. Are the parents divorced and he's now back with his Dad in Chicago??
Any ways that Slater tweet was pretty telling. Time will tell. It's interesting that we weren't even in his original top 5 and now second go around we are near the top.

To touch on past transfers there were rumors regarding TJ Holyfield, where Beard basically sandbagged Underwood after he helped him scout, and Kaden Archie (who has sucked anyways) among others. Both leaked to the message boards and eventually twitter which made neither happy. Jordan Caroline was another guy the staff thought they may have had a chance with because he didn't love playing with the twins on that team and he was from Champaign.
TJ got to play center at Texas Tech instead of stretch 4 at Illinois. Not a great decision for him. I'd like to stick it to Beard and get Shannon to come back to Illinois too but that's likely a pipe dream.

I suppose his relationship with Hawkins could be a factor. Having a friend on the inside of the program who can tell you what it's really like could be a difference maker.
I get the feeling what he was sold at Texas Tech, as far as his expected role, was very different than how things turned out. They accepted two high major transfers at his position. (One of them being Mac McLung, who is pretty good...)

I remember Mac McLung against us when he was a Georgetown, he scored 12 against us but played a great game. He was a freshman then. I hated him that night.
If anybody doesn't know Krutwig, all you need to know is this highlight reel from the Loyola Final Four game against Fichigan (who had Moritz Wagner and Teske in the middle):
He's got game - I'd absolutely love to have him getting minutes for us.
No he was speaking in tongues. But he has to have an interpreter.
I was also at that game.
According to Jake Weingarten the zoom call with Burnett is tomorrow, but either way this looks like good news. Adding Burnett to Goode and developing Hawkins and Grandison suddenly make me a lot less afraid of what next season looks like.
