If anybody doesn't know Krutwig, all you need to know is this highlight reel from the Loyola Final Four game against Fichigan (who had Moritz Wagner and Teske in the middle):
He's got game - I'd absolutely love to have him getting minutes for us.
We need him and Burnett!

The more I see from Coleman Hawkins I think with a little more muscle he can handle the 5. The bigger stronger 5’s he may struggle with but has proven to be a good shot blocker. He would also be a bad matchup for the bigger 5s with his stretch offense ala EJ Liddell. Burnett makes this team pretty dangerous next year even without Ayo and Kofi. I still think Kofi should come back but I highly doubt he does.

According to Jake Weingarten the zoom call with Burnett is tomorrow, but either way this looks like good news. Adding Burnett to Goode and developing Hawkins and Grandison suddenly make me a lot less afraid of what next season looks like.
Do not forget Hutch. If and I hope he will be healthy, is a dangerous shooter that we are truly missing this year and Belo who will be dishing dimes out like candy.

The first time I saw Cole this year, I was thinking Brian Cook or a more athletic version of Mike Davis. He is getting better and next year he can be a beast.

So does anyone know if the Zoom meeting with Burnett is today or tomorrow?

Illinois as a team is 39.7% from behind the arc. That’s the best in the big ten. Iowa is in 2nd with 39.5%. Wisconsin in 3rd with 39.0% and Michigan around 37.5% (don’t have Michigan’s exact number handy).

With Williams, Miller, Trent, Ayo, and Grandison, I don’t know that the missing piece is another shooter. I would much rather have another guy that can drive and FINISH at the rim since with Feliz being gone, it seems that we’re left with just Ayo in that role now.

Hawkins has a good frame, I like him as a stretch 4. Although I agree he could probably match up against 75% of teams next year. Giorgi plus a grad transfer at center. Along with possibly BBV or the kid out of Springfield. Can see Damonte and Trent coming back to play infront of the fans and more school. See both as good coaching career candidates.

There is every reason to believe that Curbelo will be that guy more consistently as he matures. The kid just turned 19 and will benefit from a full season of training boot camp with Fletch. I would prefer he stick to drive/dish, floaters, tear drops and mid-range jumper over 3 pointers anyway.

Just don’t see Cole at the 5. Players like Garza, Dickinson, etc would dominate him even with a year of Fletch. Suspect Jermaine will be more effective defensively in another year as a sub for Giorgi assuming no additions. Hopefully BBV will back up Cole and we still will have Grandy.

This board sure is entertaining. Brian Cook played in the NBA for almost a decade. Mike Davis averaged 11 and 8 as a sophomore. Let's slow down.
While I get what you are saying, the original poster didn't say he was as good as Cook, and didn't say he was as good or better than Davis.

Regardless if Cook played in the NBA for a decade or not, it is still possible for a player to make a fan think of him.

Also, the OP said a more athletic Davis, which I definitely disagree with, but it had nothing to do with Davis averaging 11 and 8 as a sophomore.

What, you want to wait until he has multiple good games in a row? You spoil sport.

And if they tried to put Hawkins sat the 5 next year, he’d foul out at least half the games within 15 minutes.
