I'm not sure he ever actually wanted to go to Texas Tech to be honest. It's a hot destination spot right now from prep schools but it seems like there's some strings attached there.

With Ayo gone in the draft and Hutch a big question mark playing time is there to be had. As long as Burnett knows he's going to have to earn it I'd be thrilled to get him.

Dude has a 6'10 wingspan so he provides some length at the 3 spot for us. He just has to be patient this time around.
Always strings attached to players with this much talent. Big reason why, if you tracked McDonald's All-Americans, you'd be surprised how many of them don't ever make it. They are directed by people where, when, how, and why...not what will get them to next level, or will build on current abilities.

"Less than half -- 43.1 percent -- played more than 175 games, the equivalent of two-plus seasons. Only 39 of 469 players -- 8.3 percent -- made more than one NBA All-Star Game." - ESPN

Well, what's the worst that could happen with Burnett? He comes here and isn't as good as what we already have? Of course, I know you always want Chicago players to succeed for the optics, but he finished in CA or something, right?

Prolific Prep is out of California as you said. He was actually teammates with Coleman Hawkins last year. I'm sure he's in his ear as well.

BU worked so hard to "build a culture". If Burnett has significant red flags, I hardly see BU jeopardizing that.

I anticipate the Zoom meeting will be treated like a typical two-way interview. We want Burnett to get to know us and to convince him to think about transferring in. But we also probably want to get a feel for who he is and whether he would be a good fit for our program. At some point during the meeting, I would expect us to ask Burnett, "so what led you to decide to transfer?" His response should be quite telling in how we will evaluate him.
With all of the back channels that exist in college sports and handlers I'm pretty sure they already know why he wants to leave and probably don't care that much since they are dealing with teenagers that mature at different points in their college careers. McDonalds speaks for itself!

Fair, but kind of a bad move to abandon your team midway through the year. Not like he was plastered to the bench, he was getting minutes...
Lubbock is about as west and desolate as it gets. It is a University town in the middle of nowhere. I would get bored there if I am a 18 year old.

Give the kid a break. He’s 18. We don’t know the whole story so all of it is conjecture at this point
Its true. We don't and it is not our business as fans. We can speculate and I have about how desolate Lubbock is. It night not have the culture he wants or the atmosphere. Who knows? But BU and the coaches I bet have the story and will see how he would fit.

West Texas/Panhandle is just a different place to live. Cant lump Dallas/Austin/ San Antonio/Houston in with it. It's been over 30 years since I left Champaign for Dallas and there is no way I could live out where Tech is.
I lived in Dallas for 33 years and Lubbock is not Dallas. It is more slowed down and rustic.

He sounds like a good one and getting the keys from Ayo is probably attractive to him.
Nimari, Ayo, and Adam would've made an awesome combination of guards... with Kofi and Coleman starting would be amazing! We would have starters literally coming off the bench! We definitely be favorites next year if Ayo and Kofi stayed! Pipe dreams... but still... a guy can dream right! 😁

Favorite past times include taking pictures of varmints and elephants. No really. Go to Google maps and then check out the photos there.

Cook did but you can see the similarities between Cook and Cole. I bet you will see it more next year when he grows into the 4 spot for 25-30 minutes a game and average 11-8 or 12-7 a game. He will be a stud next year and given time this year, make huge plays to get us wins.

If you mean a poor man's Brian Cook, sure. But many stretch 4s resemble the style of Brian Cook.

Coleman Hawkins will not average over 10ppg next year. If he does, we'll be on the bubble because it means we failed to get an impact big from the transfer portal.

He got 6 minutes in his final game. He played over 20 minutes only 4 times. Curbelo has played at least 20 minutes 9 times, all off the bench, for comparison.

He wasn't just recruited over. This is a different situation where McClung and Burton were granted waivers to play immediately. Burton was going to redshirt and chose not to. If a situation changes for a recruit after they committed, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't explore other options.

Speaking of Freshman, this year's Freshman class is overall incredibly weak in the BIG. After Dickinson there is a huge drop off. I realize that the season is only about half over but if the all BIG Freshman team voting were held today, Miller and Curbello would both probably make it. When was the last time we had 2 on that team?

I really like Hawkins. He’s smart, is not afraid of contact and protects the rim. He’s got a chance of being really good. With his work ethic, he may earn significant minutes next year.

I am thinking with the arsenal of scorers next year, we might be more balanced. He could get to 15-17. Miller will get his, Giorgi will get his, Goode, Hutch if healthy and Grandy. If Burnett comes in, thats more points delved out. I think he will be a star and he has similarities to Cook. Lots to like about his game.
