We just love playing down to the level of our competition. Give NW some credit they hit some tough shots and Audige lit us up in the 2nd half.

That was easily our worst display of passing. Low IQ stuff. Kofi should never, under any circumstance, ever try to run the break.

Bottom line: we get away from feeding Kofi and look lost on offense. NW hit some tough shots and really played a solid zone. We didn't adjust to the zone very well.

I continue to be in awe of the play of DaMonte Williams.

I ask you, how many times has he delivered just what the team needs at that moment in so many games.
He will always be among my favorite Illini, along with his dad.

Looks like we're going to survive again. How many games would we have lost this year without Dosunmu bailing the team out at the end?
I agree but part of that equation is that Ayo played a bunch of minutes before he took over in the final couple and didn't really stuff the stat sheet before that.

lots of posters saying this but I disagree. Would be true if we were a 5 or 6 seed. They’re looking at a 1 or 2 right now. No chance they get upset by a 15 or 16 seed. That’s not who Nebraska, NU or Maryland are. Not even close.
Ask Izzo about Middle Tennessee State.

I liked this post. Then I remembered the Ohio game. That’s a 15 seed. And we are still capable of losing that game with a bad bounce. But so is a team like Ohio State. Gonzaga and Baylor might be the only two teams who couldn’t lose to a 15 this year.

Yes I agree it happens but I doubt but 2nd rd is a possibility would leave this hype of a season to utterly disappointment considering the expectations but with Ayo he is a winner and this game where he wasn’t his best didn’t dominate like he normally does he still locked it in

Yes, there is no doubt the league is the toughest in the country and night in night out is a battle no matter the opponent. The disappointing thing to my eyes are the unforced turnovers, missed free throws, and poor shots without attempting to get the ball down low where we clearly had NW outmatched. Great teams do not display those mental lapses on a consistent basis like we have consistently seen from this team. Love our potential and hope like heck we win it all this year, but great teams do not display these habits.

That is true, but you won't win a championship if the opponents are allowed to hang around every game. Eventually one of these teams is going to hit a few big shots at the end to beat us, and I'm afraid that is going to be in March.
Fair, the turnovers and free throws have to change. It's so annoying to be careless with all those possessions.

It was a weird game. I really think Ayo wanted to see others score. I thought Grandison should have played more. Again free throws almost killed us.
