Yeah who has time for games when you can argue about the schools teenagers pick?

I feel like we need more posts with “big boy” in them. We were doing really well for a while but they trailed off and it’s getting concerning.
How about a twofer from the hip hop community?

Now that there is a little quiet time here, you can almost see how this played out. OA is making something a little north of 450, the season is over and suddenly UK is down a couple of assistants. Easy, offer OA 650 to move back to UK, you know he will take it after all it is a 30% increase.

I would have loved to have been in the room when UK's AD got the call from OA's agent telling him what Illinois was offering. I would have loved to have been in the room when Whitman told the agent what we were offering. Even Ky Sports Radio called it a "substantial offer".

THE LAST THING ON EARTH THAT KY WAS EXPECTING WAS WHAT WE DID AND I'M LOVING IT.

We are not the same program as we were 14 days ago. Assistant coaches are calling each other to talk about what Illinois of all people were willing to pay for quality.

All we really had to do is buy his wife an apartment in the Caymans

Thought we could get Giorgi to replace him. Great with the footwork and an amazing recruiter. Moms love him.

Most of it just doesn’t matter. An AD’s three most important jobs are hiring the football coach, hiring the men’s basketball coach and fundraising. The rest is just details.
It does and doesn’t matter. Football and MBB are the moneymakers for the athletics department. As a whole though, it’s best for the entire program to be strong, and JW’s non-revenue hired have been less than stellar. Boosters see this and I know some aren’t happy about it, and haven’t been happy with JW as a whole. Josh would really benefit from hiring a high level assistant AD to help with the non-revenue hires so that he can focus on the revenue sports and fundraising.

It's not that non-revenue sports "don't matter," but it's hardly worth getting hung up about this early in a young/promising AD's tenure when he clearly seems to get more structural issues (like fundraising capabilities, vision for the program and managing the athletic department's perception) in a way that his two predecessors utterly lacked. As someone who doesn't live in Champaign, I really only follow football, basketball and occasionally baseball/volleyball if they are on TV or are playing well. I'd love for Illinois to be good at everything, but there was a stretch during MT's tenure, I think, where we were like dominating all of these country club sports and a joke in the revenue ones. NOT a good look, haha. And that is what I like about JW, and what I suspect a few regulars at the country club in Champaign are annoyed by: he is trying to make us more like an Ohio State or a Michigan and less like a private school in the way we approach big money athletics.

What do you mean by this? If you think the guys at the Country Club want anything beyond winning football and basketball, you're very mistaken. I suspect in a weighted vote of DIA contributors where each dollar got you a vote, the contest between winning a single regular season basketball game against IU vs a B1G title for woman's basketball that the IU victory would get about 90% of the votes.

So that’s where we can get an actual Loyalty beach house.
It's actually much easier to win a Loyalty beach house betting against someone here who drank too much orange kool-aid than it is to buy one.

Not over, according to something I heard last night, which I will label as strictly a rumor from a friend of mine who said he was around Cal yesterday (we both live in LA). Given the providence of the info I won't repeat the comment, or label it good/bad, other than to say the comment suggests that the situation remains ongoing.
