I get that there are still a lot of moving parts involved in filling one of our AC spots. But I don't get why we haven't officially announced Gentry's departure and Alexander as his replacement yet. Are you telling me that's not a done deal? Is Gentry's move back to Gonzaga not a committable offer? Are we still negotiating the details with Alexander?

I agree. What good is Gentry doing for us now that he’s rumored to be out the door. Make it final so we can move on.

This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, a lotta strands to keep in my head, man.

When did Mennenga come back into the picture? Is there anything to that, or is it a, "Well if Guerrier picks Illinois, he must know Mennenga is heading there."?

He probably hasn’t come back into the picture.

This is where I’m at. Hope I’m wrong. Figure Wil Bailey or the like would be good. But a step down from some of the other names we’ve seen thrown around.
I think Geoff and Chester are great. So not complaining.

I will end this drawn out search. I will take the job for a starting salary of $200,000/year. My qualifications? At a Holiday Tournament many moons ago at Danville CC I saw a game between Chicago King and Danville HS. After the game I predicted that a clumsy and uncoordinated Keon Clark would make it to the NBA and highly recruited Rashard Griffith and Thomas Hamilton would not. I can start tomorrow.
But did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express?

Hate to break it to you, but Thomas Hamilton made it to the NBA.

So I wonder if that means CY will be announced soon since Guerrier is now transferring to Oregon and Mennenga will most likely stay? The way this offseason is going, you never know I guess.

What’s up with Gentry? If he’s been hired by Gonzaga they would announce it. They wouldn’t wait for Illinois to be able to do something. If we know he is leaving why would t we just hire Alexander and announce it?

Same question was asked of Antigua/Coleman. Often a public entity has to leave a job open for so long before making a hire formal. That could be the culprit? Gonzaga isn't public, but it is tax-exempt, so might have to follow similar rules. I am not a lawyer.

It's important to remember we're at the end of the grapevine and not the center of the whole truth.

As far as I've seen, these "reports" that Antigua took less than we offered are all speculation. Even if reporters were saying it, it's not like anyone on the in is telling them exact figures so all they can do is guess. Antigua is getting paid $850k (Source). Even if it's true we offered him more, I'd imagine we may have offered say $900k, which is a minuscule difference. If he really wanted to go to UK, it probably wasn't enough to keep him.

Also, it's been reported that a number of candidates passed on the job? I'd love to see the sources behind that. And even if they had some legitimacy to it, we're trying to poach coaches from top-tier programs that can financially compete. Not to mention the interests Brad said he's received in the position. I doubt it's as simple as, "many candidates passed on the job".
Its rumored we offered way more than 900.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure some of the delay around OA/Chin was due to Terrance Clarke’s death. How long were our positions open/posted before Chester was hired? Couldn’t have been long.
