Doesn’t seem like it with the misses in recruiting and player loses lately(whispers) we haven't been playing fair for a while now

That is correct but they can still ask for a waiver. There will be situations where they will waive the sit out on the second transfer. It remains to be seen what the criteria will be.I thought a new policy was in effect that allowed all first time transfers without a sit out year going forward. The next one required a sit out.
So that is not correct?
What an impressive way to tarnish your legacy at Illinois...
If Kofi hires an agent to find a team to play college ball, does he then lose eligibility to play in the NBA?
I noticed that no one on Instagram that is still on the team even acknowledged this Kofi portal development/announcement. Not sure what that means exactly, but I do find it interesting. Maybe the team expected this?View attachment 10648ayo’s take on kofi…

Maybe they're pissed at him and are done with him and have moved on.I noticed that no one on Instagram that is still on the team even acknowledged this Kofi portal development/announcement. Not sure what that means exactly, but I do find it interesting. Maybe the team expected this?
Fair point for sure. I guess I expected something more because Miller got quite the reaction, but declaring for NBA draft and then stepping into portal is much different than blindsiding your entire team out of nowhere. To be fair, not much to acknowledge. Yes, both of those things are okay.IF declaring for the NBA is OK, then entering the portal, at any time, is also OK
Both moves are in the benefit of the player
There is nothing called "legacy", "loyalty", "retiring numbers", etc any longer. Especially now that the Gov has signed the NLI stuff. I bet college sports will make a turn that no one anticipated
The idea that no college basketball player will stay with a school for the duration of his 2-4 year college basketball career is a wild overreaction. Is the landscape of college basketball changing? Sure. But come on. Free agency has been a thing in the MLB and NBA for years. And sure the vast majority of players move around. But there are also guys like Steph Curry and Yadier Molina who've cemented a legacy with their longtime teams.IF declaring for the NBA is OK, then entering the portal, at any time, is also OK

Would've made even more if he maintained his likeability. Running it back and returning from the NBA draft process is a lot different than running it back from the transfer portalKofi will likely make more NIL $ if he comes back to Illinois after doubling down that he's going to leave. Like how Ayo became a legend for "running it back." It is a brilliant business move by the big guy and if he stays or if he goes I wish him the best and I'm sure BU will put a fun product on the court for us fans either way.
The situation just feels way different than pro sports because this whole thing is basically brand new. We, as a fan base, get attached to these guys because they play for our favorite team and no one else in their college careers (for the most part). Imagine if Deron put his name in the draft after the 2004 season, didn’t get the feedback he wanted, and decided to transfer and go somewhere else. If Kofi goes elsewhere it will sting, even if this is the new normal for college sports. The idea that no college basketball player will stay with a school for the duration of his 2-4 year college basketball career is a wild overreaction. The NCAA comes down on the teams that try playing with the big boysAt this point Illinois has to stop playing fair and start playing with the big boys
Now they can! Presenting NIL!let everyone good enough go pro after high school
Ain't dat da troofThe NCAA comes down on the teams that try playing with the big boys
But wait! There's more! Now they can! Presenting NIL!
If it matters, I would personally welcome him back with the most open arms.Would've made even more if he maintained his likeability. Running it back and returning from the NBA draft process is a lot different than running it back from the transfer portal
