My favorite part of JJ Taylor potentially reclassifying is that it allows the staff to go all in on Fears/Boswell. Taylor has always seemed more of a pipe dream whereas we have a legit shot to grab one of those guards. Either one signing here would be MASSIVE for this program.
Dosunmu->Curbelo->Boswell/Fears 🤯

It would be great to get Ty Rogers or JJ Taylor. I think Rogers stays 3 years so I prefer him.
This is the approach of some stuck 20 years in the past. Even if Rogers is a 3 year college player - there’s nothing to guarantee he stays at Illinois.

Also - nearly every championship team has a 1 and done caliber player. If we want to aim high, we have to get top tier recruits.

There is certainly a lot of smoke around Fears and a potential Fears/Boswell pairing at Illinois... man is the program in an incredible spot right now.
Yeah, that would be pretty, pretty good.

Don't know if it'll come to fruition, but being teammates on the US team this summer clearly helped the cause a lot. It seems like Fears and Boswell forged a bond and realize that they could thrive together.

From an elite prospect's view, the primary goal is getting to the league ASAP. But having fun is number 2 and those guys could have loads of it playing together.

Then there's the steel sharpens steel factor. Who better to push these kids?

He is at Memphis this weekend. Gotta get him out of there.
He doesn't go to Memphis til November 8/9th. I'm not really worried at all about Fears, he's definitely the more likely of the two and I wouldn't be surprised if he popped within a couple months.

Boswell still has tons of family in Champaign. They/their families have even known each other well before being teammates on team USA this summer.

I thought Fears was this weekend but I may be wrong. They have talked about playing together like Deron and Dee. Curbelo should be gone by then so there will be a need for at least one of them. They wouldn't turn down either though.

Most kids take some or all of their visits so it's expected. Don't love being in battles with Memphis but we seem to often nowadays... that said they don't worry me for Fears.

Really good interview featuring the dad's of Jeremy Fears & Kylan Boswell

I listened to this last night. I really enjoyed listening to both dads. Boswell's dad sounds very polished and was peeked by the number of family members that has attended the U of I.

At the end, Fears dad says that his son LOVES illinois, dad didn't sound quite as committed to loving them, but hopefully his son can make big boy decisions that is what he wants.

2015 Duke was actually the last champion to start a one and done in Jahlil Okafor. 2017 UNC had Tony Bradley, but he came off the bench and scored 7 ppg then got drafted at the end of the first round

I know you're just expressing an opinion, but I don't like to see these kinds of things said about players when you have a guy with a stellar 3 year career being compared to a guy who's had 1 (stellar) season --let alone 3 players who've not yet played a collegiate game. Better IMO to be thankful for the commitment, and positive on guys the staff is high on. Furthermore, a number of folks believe AC has a realistic chance at eclipsing what Ayo's done at Illinois.

FWLIW, I have no issues comparing guys freshmen season, hs rankings, overall careers, etc.. If any of that is what you're saying, fair enough.

I don't think it was a comparison I think he was saying that's the pipeline. Those are arrows not greater than symbols. Ayo hands off to Belo who hands off to Epps who hands off to Fears/Boswell meaning we have a chain of awesome lead guards.
