What the heck did he do wrong?Texas Tech’s Matt Wells ... he gone.

What the heck did he do wrong?
What, are they scared he's gonna win them?Only 4 wins each of his first 2 seasons in Lubbock. While team had 5 wins this season, their last 4 games of the season will be against the 4 Big XII teams currently ranked in the Top 25.
What, are they scared he's gonna win them?
They realize they just became a worse job, right?
I mean it's a fine job as far as it goes, but they're now kinda-sorta not a P5 school anymore.Wasn't Texas Tech pretty much the worst job among the Texas Power 5 schools at this point anyway? I mean, it can't be easy to recruit to a town like Lubbock.
Probably a very cranky fanbase now that Kliff Kingsbury appears to be off to the races in the NFL.
Outside of some sort of scandal, that seems to be the biggest reason a coach is fired mid-season.What, are they scared he's gonna win them?
If I am Traylor I tell TTU: Thanks, but no thanks! That guy is cut out for bigger things than TTU.
I was in Lubbock once. Ugh. The most accurate description of the place that I later heard is "all they have there are miles and miles of miles and miles".If I am Traylor I tell TTU: Thanks, but no thanks! That guy is cut out for bigger things than TTU.
My ex father in law grew up in Lubbock on a cotton farm ....he told me he hated it and couldn't wait to move to odessa-midland area when he was young....I was in Lubbock once. Ugh. they have a winning record and his offense is not exactly Air Raid so he finally got players in that fit his scheme. I'd like to hear more of why TTU fired Wells. I hope TTU realizes that they are not going to win the Big 12 overnight especially with Oklahoma, Baylor, and ISU in the conference for the next few years. They definitely do not have as much money as Texas, Oklahoma and Baylor for recruiting and facilities. All of this needs to be given time which I don't believe many of these Power 5 Teams are allowing their coaches. What the heck did he do wrong?
That is a very depressing sentenceMy ex father in law grew up in Lubbock on a cotton farm ....he told me he hated it and couldn't wait to move to odessa-midland area when he was young....
Also being rumored are Sonny dikes and, wait for it… Art Briles
Sonny is really building something at SMU. While I know there are family ties at Tech I don’t think I go anywhere near that job if I am him. It’s really more of a lateral move at this point – particularly with Oklahoma and Texas leaving the Big 12. While the big 12 isn’t G5, it really isn’t P5 either without OU or TX. He will have true Power 5 offers in the next few years.
There are influential boosters at Tech that would love to have Briles - morally bankrupt folks if you ask me. However, no one who at this point is in a position to make a higher.
Hope Kill is up to it health-wise
Patterson was incredibly loyal to that program, there were a couple periods when he could have walked to any open job in the country, and maybe the NFL as well.
Gary Patterson out at TCU, which is really unbelievable. Turned a small conference doormat into a National power, completed revitalized the entire athletic department, raised the profile of the university … you’d think they would at least let him finish the season before showing him the gate. Wow.
Nebraska NOT firing Scott Frost ...yet.
