Great game, other than the first few minutes nothing major to criticize. Low turnovers, high FG%, and a record number of made 3PT.
Not much to improve on. good tune up for miznoz

Hawkins and Melendez minutes or lack of time in first half was a head scratcher but both played great in 2nd half.

This is one of those, can't get too high, can't get too low type of games, just like last week. That was a tough to stomach loss to an outstanding team and this was a feel good win against an awful team.

Still concerned by the lack of clearing the defensive glass. 13 in one half, against that team...not great.

The shooting continues to be off the charts and seems to be evolving into what this team will have to hang it's hat on.

Looks like Hawkins got his wings clipped from a minutes standpoint. Figured that's where the major change was going to come. Grandison, without a doubt, has earned the bulk of those minutes.

Onwards and upwards. Best Mizzou!

It is so weird watching Curbello just sitting on the bench and there just looks like there’s nothing wrong with him. Normally you know player has “X” injury but in this case it is just weird not really knowing anything (other than a concussion a month ago). Hope he does come back at some point. He would define the X factor that is for sure.
I was told that Loren Tate said on the radio call that Curbelo has been experiencing vertigo.

It's clearly a post-concussive type issue. The way that typically manifests itself is that in normal situations you feel fine, but when you get in motion with your heart rate accelerated that's where the symptoms kick in. It's frustrating and uncertain, but it will eventually get better.

He's not going to just pop back into a game. We will hear when he's doing proper full-go practicing again, could be next week or next year, but when we hear that it means he's 100% and good to go.

Kofi made some postgame comments about cherished moments with his Illini teammates that show an understanding and mental competence beyond his years. We may never appreciate enough what and who this young man is.
He's such a smart player and has such a great attitude. He understands what his particular talents do to a basketball game and he just relentlessly applies them. The embodiment of an "every day guy".

Not to get too into the weeds this early in the post but does BBV have great passing vision at the top of the key or what! I feel like some of the best entry passes to Kofi this season have been from him. Underrated part of his game.
I was thinking about this too. I think it's about his height and the fact that there is no pressure on him.

At some point, teams should pressure him a bit. I don't think anyone will beat him off the bounce.

Vertigo is tough. I believe that's what Corey Crawford had after his concussion and it was a whole year ordeal. Now, obviously hockey is a different animal, but still the issue is that this could be a while. As fans, we do have to remember that these "guys" are still college kids. There's a whole lot of life to live beyond basketball.

Have you heard it's vertigo from someone? I get that it fits the bill with what we've seen from him, but if it's just speculation I'm not going to put that much stock into it.
If it's vertigo, there's no telling when he will be back. I've been dealing with it off and on for years.

Like others have mentioned, in a game where we were supposed to handle our business, we did. But the most encouraging signs for me were the ball movement side to side, you can tell players are getting comfortable with each other in that regard, and RJ… I’m not sure why he was the last frosh to enter the game today, but that kid is a lighting rod of ability when he steps on the court. Length, altheticism, vision, shooting, he looks like an NBA 2-3 if he can continue to develop.

Now, hopefully, it’s time for a long, sustained winning streak.

This is a very credible and logical explanation. Fits perfectly with what we've been witnessing over the past two months. Very believable.

He's all that and more... a wise, old soul.

Couldn’t watch the game, but it struck me today that we might be watching a new version of our 2002 Illini. Year after a somewhat surprising elite season to bring us “back,” initial “disappointment” and fun from there!! Hoping for even more than a Sweet Sixteen, though. :)

Thanks just such a weird injury. You see concussions a lot in football and usually a week or two and the player is ok? My wife is a nurse practitioner and she also says it can take months to fully recover from a concussion. Just weird watching how it is unfolding.

Anyway, great game from the guys! Tons of threes and some good minutes from Podz (that’s a welcome surprise) Blow out the cupcakes and it helps confidence and computer numbers. Let’s go eat some tiger meat this Wednesday 🍽

Go Illini!

I have enjoyed watching BBV come in and fill his role. Solid on the glass, solid screens with out silly fouls setting them, great entry passes and making others get better. I know with out a doubt Coleman can be better but I think it was good for him to watch BBV, Jake, and DMW play a bit more of what would normally be Colemans minutes. Coleman can be very good and when he did get his tick today he played well with few if any mistakes. Some times having to sit and watch is the best way to teach and get though to a young man. Especailly when you have three or more quality players that aren't making as many mistakes.
I was glad to see how well Coleman came in an played today. I dont recall him making any turnovers or mistakes today. I loved it. If Coleman can do that he can be better than any of the four if he is focus and improves. With how Jake is playing thats saying a lot.

Nothing to complain about after this game and I understand that he's 2 inches shorter but I wouldn't mind BBV getting more of Payne's minutes. Don't want to give up on OP but my eye test has him flunking so far.

Nearly all vertigo is not a neurological issue at all and rather is just a matter of an ENT doing a series of moves to get a dislodged crystal in your ears back into the right spot.

That's what fixed me after my concussion. It still returns periodically, but I can do the therapy at home on my own now. The vertigo actually started before the concussion, so it might not have even been related.
