Saw somewhere that he needed glasses, got some, & they have made a difference.
SameI am equally scared and also worried and not for the team, but for AC
Per 247... "He last played against Kansas State in the Hall of Fame Classic, where he was visibly in pain. Curbelo played a few shortened stints in the second half of that game, but he was seen wincing, resting his head on Underwood’s chest and getting treatment on his neck on the bench"I apologize if I'm asking anyone to be repetitive but we've been on vacation and work obligations have me way behind on our attention to sports of any sort. That said, what exactly happened to AC. Did this injury happen in a game or practice? Obviously he's suffering from a concussion. I've been able to find very little in the way of how this happened and when.
all of the above. Loren Tate mentioned vertigo in a radio interview, apparently. Ted Lasso suspects a case of the yips, but those words cannot be spoken.Per 247... No one knows what happened or what the cause is. Many speculate it's related to the concussion. Maybe he injured himself another way during a game? All we know is... per Underwood, "confident he's going to be on the court again"
The yips ended Rick Ankiel's career as a pitcher, but he was able to come back as a pretty good outfielder. Maybe Curbelo can come back as a 5?all of the above. Loren Tate mentioned vertigo in a radio interview, apparently. Ted Lasso suspects a case of the yips, but those words cannot be spoken.
When Brad was asked earlier this week if there was a time line for AC's return his response was "NO". Not "We are seeing improvement", not "We are hopeful it will be soon"...just a flat out "NO". So I take this response from BU as a positive. This is not good
Fair point but this didn't seem to be an issue last year, when Curbelo also was a bad shooter. Our adjusted offense per Kenpom is a little worse at 11th this year, 8th last year. Our adjusted defense is 38th this year and was 7th last year. I know that no Ayo and the switch from Miller to Plummer probably has a lot to do with that, but is it possible AC did more on defense than he gets credit for?
Only way this team is not better without AC is:Point take, but there is no way I will concede that we are a better team without AC than with AC
We are surely developing a dangerous offensive capability and identity that works in-game and is a huge sell to prospective recruits. I think it is fair to ask how AC with his limited shooting fits in as he comes back. I mostly hope he gets healthy and everyone gets a chance to figure out how such a gifted ball handler and passer could fit into or morph the goodness that is developing right now. How will the staff adjust to capitalize on his strengths? He is such a special talent. I just worry about him coming back in the middle of the season as a sophmore and trying to do the work necessary to make up the growth he should of had the opprotunity to make in the first part of the season, just as we are starting gel and create that identity. What a tough spot for AC to be in. Truly feel for the young man and wish him the absolute best.Only way this team is not better without AC is:
1. The entire team goes cold as in the Cincy game.
2. He can keep his A/T ratio under 3.
He has to facilitate and make scoring opportunities. When he is in, a shooter sits....most of the time. Therefore, he must move, move the ball quickly to where it needs to go, and not turn it over. This makes the team function efficiently. Some might point to what he adds in ball-handling security....but that has NEVER been a plus. This team can beat a press easily...as any team can....if they simply practice and gain confidence.
So what happens when Trent needs rest or gets in foul problems? Think it is absolutely wrong to think the team is better without Belo. Suggest you go back and watch a replay of the Michigan game. Who was it who was put in the games when they started out slow. Memories seem pretty short when a player has a bad game or streak.Only way this team is not better without AC is:

Sure, I want AC to play and be a strength. But this team is getting where they need to be without him. He will add...if he does not subtract... and in a nutshell, that means no blundering turnovers and efficient shooting. That has not been seen in his brief time, but he can do it as we have seen on occasion in the past. As Grandison stated after the last game, doing the easy things well without blunders is generally the right thing to do....ESPN highlights be damned. As a team without Curbelo, they are doing just that and I passionately love to see Kofi passing out of double teams quickly to perimeter shooters which is this team's strength....but heretofore unseen (except by Illini opponents when raining threes to a win). This team demands opponents double Kofi...so they will as we have seen. When he gets the ball in the paint and is doubled, there is only one way to beat that....get it quickly to the unguarded shooter and let him fire away. Unfortunately, with AC in the game, there is one less shooter, so he will have to make up for that...and I hope he can and will. If so, those 5-10 min. scoring droughts will disappear and this team gets more and more difficult to beat...by anyone.
I hope when he does come back he wears goggles. Just because I think players look cool in goggles.
No kidding. We are dangerously thin at guard right now, particularly guards who can handle the ball. I don't think Belo comes in and starts right away (assuming hopefully that he comes back soon). But he can absolute help us as another capable ballhandler for 20 min/game. And he's significantly better at getting Kofi the ball in optimal scoring position than anyone else on the roster. So what happens when Trent needs rest or gets in foul problems? Thank you. I'm floored that people are suggesting the addition of Curbelo would be a determent to this team. Part of what sucks about his absence is that it gives everyone too big a time to stew over Marquette and Cincinnati games, both which we have ample evidence he was playing hurt. He is an elite level PG. It wasn't an accident the entire college hoops world (including us) was gushing over him when the season started. So what happens when Trent needs rest or gets in foul problems? It was like in the first 30 seconds of the Indiana (PA)gameI apologize if I'm asking anyone to be repetitive but we've been on vacation and work obligations have me way behind on our attention to sports of any sort. It all depends on the kind of performance AC is able to display upon his return. I will stake my life on the likelihood that BU will not play him 25+ min. but more like 15 if he shows any consistency with more turnovers than assists along with poor shooting. Do I expect that? Hell no. I hope he brings energy and excellence....should he see the floor again.Thank you. I'm floored that people are suggesting the addition of Curbelo would be a determent to this team. This whole thing baffled me because I had a severe concussion as a kid and didn't experience any long term effects. So, I read up on it and some are immediate, some occur weeks later and some can take months to surface. The number of concussions is usually the driver of these things. While they can occur with one severe hit, they are usually worse with multiples. Hope this is Belo's first and last. The weird part for me is that he came back after the initial injury and played a few games and then suddenly his status and health went dark for what will be almost two months.
If not, perhaps as an OF.........The yips ended Rick Ankiel's career as a pitcher, but he was able to come back as a pretty good outfielder. Maybe Curbelo can come back as a 5?
