It is on Michigan's own website and they say it is canceled due to internal covid issues in their program.

As long as they still play the game we all know it will just be another loss by a terrible team Michigan is insignificant at this point
I defer to no one in my general distaste for UM. The key clause above , however, is "at this point." ;) They've got sufficient talent and Howard is a sufficiently talented coach that I'll be surprised if this persists through February. The delta between playing them mid-Jan in the Hall and Feb 27 in Crisler is likely to be material given their KenPom rating at 7-6, only 3-4 notches below IU/Iowa at 11-3/11-4. I'm not expecting a repeat of last season's delicious humiliation of them up there, though I'll certainly welcome it. More likely a grinder.

Obviously UM can’t do anything about the Covid exposures but how the rescheduling takes place will be very interesting to watch

[Postponed competitions that do not result in forfeiture but are unable to be rescheduled will be declared “no contests.”]

Just speculating, but given how early it is in the season, you'd think Michigan would reschedule. It's not like they have to schedule a flight or figure out difficult travel arrangements, and it's hard to imagine Izzo avoiding UM even in Ann Arbor.

Michigan has poor and inconsistent point gaurd play. It will keep them from being a top tier team.

Yes, they do now. We'll see how that changes, or not. I learned long ago not to underestimate opponents and to be pleasantly surprised when I overestimate them.

[EDIT: In addition, I can recall season after season on this board when posters were weeping and gnashing teeth about Illini deficiencies and mediocre records in early January only to change their tune by mid-Feb. That's what happens with good coaches, like BU and, alas, Juwan.]

bro , you have made 2 references to Mr. Coward being a good coach.........Are you OK ?........Are you feeling sick to your stomach , cause I am ,reading something about scUM with a somewhat congenial tone........screw them and the scUM bucket existence they lead.......They have been a scUMbucket program since the beginning of time ..............they really really have.........Please clean up your thought process and get back onboard the righteous path of hatred for the maize and blue scUMmers......................

Look at this image and repeat after me ...................................Mr. Coward is NOT a good coach and he's bigfoot ugly....................After saying this 10 times and staring at the image , i'm sure you will start feeling better and be back to the altgeld88 we all know and care fondly for .....you really really will......OK ?

Sounds like Michigan (and not MSU) has a COVID pause - based on supplemental info to this tweet.

Called it on December 17th:

Michigan just announced that they’ll be ok to play Southern Utah, Purdue Fort Wayne, and UCF from December 18-30, but they have to cancel the Michigan State, Purdue and Illinois games from January 8th - 14th for COVID reasons. The team anticipates it will be fine from January 15 - February 26th, but has canceled its games from February 27 - March 6 against Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio State for an anticipated COVID break-out.

#24 Seton Hall (-4) faces a pretty decent UConn team rn. If they lose there's no chance they stay in the rankings after their losses last week

Do you think Juwan knows that he can't win the B1G with a 1-2 record?
Juwan already told Kevin Warren that the team will be ready to go for all Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, and Maryland games. It’s the other games that the team expects to have COVID. Juwan is looking at a 5-2 record hoping that will get the job done from a winning percentage standpoint.

lol pru. All staring at that image did was make the ham omelet I just enjoyed sit a little less comfortably in my stomach!

As much as it pains me to admit it, Michigan has been blessed with coaching talent over the many, many years of my humble lifetime, dating back to good ol' Johnny Orr when the wee altgeld88 was barely ambulatory. With the exception of the beturtlnecked Ammaker (and, of course, the dubious Fisher) I'm hard pressed to find fault with the coaching chops of Frieder, Beilein or thus far, *gag* Juwan. As far as comportment, well, that's a different matter altogether, as we learned painfully last winter.

I look on the bright side. I actually respected them when Beilein coached them. I don't anymore, which makes beatings like last Feb oh so sweet.

[EDIT: I just reviewed and thoroughly enjoyed the intervening posts. Let's look on the bright side: Juwan is providing an ample reservoir of ridiculosity from which to drink deeply as we await the Children of the Corn.]

What I saw was that Michigan had 2 of the 4 players that were out for the Rutgers game were expected back for today's game but that there were additional positive covid tests that came through Friday night, which meant they were below 7 scholarship players and 1 coach threshold.
