You can absolutely blame this on the officials
Maybe. I thought Edey clobbered BBV on a dunk attempt and Ivey got the star treatment... one play in particular, he jumped into a straight-up Damonte and got bailed out by the refs. I thought Kofi's fifth foul should have been a non-call.

On the other side of it, the only help we got from the refs is that I think they let BBV really bang down low on defense. Surprised he didn't pick up more fouls.

It's puzzling that the conference ADs don't force better, more consistent officiating across the board. How long does the B1G have to suffer incompetence? Every team gets totally hosed at some point and the resulting style of league play does no favors to our teams in the tourney. It's unacceptable.

Will get downvoted big time here but officiating at the end of the day was not the issue.

Once we got that game into overtime, it was completely in our hands and we should have won -- there is no excuse there.

On another note, I will volunteer my time for free to teach BVB how to finish around the rim. His effort was unbelievable but we probably win this game if he finishes his looks.
I have to disagree with you. We managed to stay in it despite the officiating.

Imagine what happens if Kofi is still in it and playing with fluidity. We might have lost still, but it feels like we would have had a better chance of pulling it out in the second OT

I think most of us recognize it wasn't much of an issue in overtime although there were some questionable calls in both OTs: the foul on the Stefanovic 3 for instance. The problem is the two OTs don't characterize the first 40 minutes which were problematic officiating. Some of the fouls on Kofi were bs, making Jaden Ivey turn into James Harden, Edey getting away with fouls, moving screens by Purdue.

It's really easy to pin this on officiating, and they certainly didn't help, but we gave up a 17-2 run to end the first half. This was within our grasp despite officiating.
That run started with a questionable flagrant that gave them two shots and possession of the ball. A flop on a three we corralled in 2OT took it to a two possession game. So on and so forth. The crap calls were endemic.

Belo comes back better than before, we got better without Kofi, BBV was actually really good. I was wholeheartedly expecting the worst when BBV missed the bunny early on. Weird game, refs sucked as usual though.

It wasn't that lopsided by the end. You can't blame this one on the officials. This was a really good and hard fought game where we had little room for error. Needed Kofi still in the game late, but some of his fouls were silly on his part.

We deserved that game. It was very obviously called tighter against our bigs. At home. Blatant.

That said....Kofi didn't respond well to the obvious imbalance of calls.

Edey is 7'4". Congrats on your genes.

The team responded...unbelievably.....with Kofi out.

Kofi literally transferred his power and mojo into BBV.

He doesn't have the legs to dominate for long, Kofi would have eaten in the 2nd half had he not been in foul trouble so early on.
Omar had Trevion's number in the first half, when he went in for Kofi. That's what started out run. That run unfortunately ended when Omar got the flagrant, and then we had Purdue's mammoth run to end the half. Kofi is awesome, but he didn't bring it tonight, on either side of the ball.
