I love King Kofi but his game is about over powering others bigs. He struggled to do that vs Edey. Kofi is a great college player and I love him on our team. He us what he is and I hope he stays another year. Not so sure about the NBA for him at least not yet.
Between this game and Arizona, I think it's safe to say that Kofi now understands what life could look like in the NBA, if that is what he decides to do after this season. Things are a little different when you don't have 6 inches and 50 lbs on the guy guarding you.

Tough loss. FT disparity is BS.
Our squad will grow and learn from this loss.
Can't wait for them to get out on the road and build their identity.
Go Illini.
Yes Omar BBV know they can play
They are gonna mug Kofi even more
Like to see that baby hook of his against that seven footer
We be gelling
Go Illini

I don’t like admitting this at all but Kofi would get torched on defense in the NBA without a huge jump. Guys are just too athletic and creative getting to the rim.

It wasn't that lopsided by the end. You can't blame this one on the officials. This was a really good and hard fought game where we had little room for error. Needed Kofi still in the game late, but some of his fouls were silly on his part.
Agree totally. It gets so tiresome of reading post by fans who think the refs cost us the game. Take off your orange colored glasses

If you have this game on DVR, I dare you to go back and slo-mo all of the questionable calls, and then tell me how it was. Very, very few games are decided by the refs, but this one was. OT is irrelevant, because the refs are the only reason it went to OT. Worst performance by the refs I've seen this year, JMHO.

but we'll probably fall out of the top 25...
I truly chuckle every time I see a comment about top 25. The Illini, with their AA playing a very poor game, took the best team in the country to double overtime....and spotted them an 11 pt. deficit in the last 20 min. It makes little sense to remove them from the top 25, but it may happen. I could care less!!!!!! They proved to have the weapons, skills, and HEART to compete with the very best. And they will. There are more important games coming and their play is getting better. Enjoy this team and support them to the end....they are playing their guts out.

He's got to learn to deal with the frustration of a larger or more agile big on him, and being doubled continually. And he's got to learn to move his feet and to finish strong when he can't dunk it.

I don't watch the NBA much but it seems to me that he needs a lot more development. In Champaign, of course, for a further season ;):illinois::ah:

Encouraging performance despite the loss. Feel bad for Kofi, this just wasn't his day.

We are better with Curbelo. Full stop.
His decision making was great. Many oh wow moments only a few… no.no.no moments

Better with AC

Can't give a top 10 team 17 unanswered and expect to win. Still, we nearly pulled it off. Proud of they way we fought the entire game. BBV - outstanding game under tough circumstances. This officiating crew, as per usual, can eat a bag.
Bingo. With all of the complaints about the reffing(warranted), can't let up a 17-0 run. A sizeable run has occurred in just about every game this year.

The refs ultimately make a very small impact on virtually every game.

Right, so no Kofi for 10+ minutes, and the foul disparity is a small impact. Gotcha.

Wow. That was a fantastic fantastic game. I had to watch on replay/delay due to work but just got through it.

- the fouls to Cockburn were unfortunate. Especially the tangled up one that could have gone either way. But BBV gave us some great minutes. A few big rebounds and a couple extra possessions. He wasn’t the scoring threat of Kofi, but dmn he did well

- Stefanovic is a sniper-sniper. So good, and he got hot. Hard to stop when he was raining in 3s at that rate. He killed every little run we made in the second half.

- Ultimately our depth did us in. Didn’t have the energy to go 2OT against their 10 deep bench. You could see it in their body language.

We fought like hell and I am so proud. This is a great team. Purdue is a great team. I don’t think we have many minuses looking at this game except maybe a couple defensive lapses.

Mostly: I am so so happy to see Andre back doing Andre things. It’s like he never left 🥲

Maybe. I thought Edey clobbered BBV on a dunk attempt and Ivey got the star treatment... one play in particular, he jumped into a straight-up Damonte and got bailed out by the refs. I thought Kofi's fifth foul should have been a non-call.

On the other side of it, the only help we got from the refs is that I think they let BBV really bang down low on defense. Surprised he didn't pick up more fouls.
We definitely had a few bad breaks on the officiating front. Kofi’s 5th was a foul and a bad one at that. He was sliding his right foot and not planted on contact. Not a smart play with 4 fouls.

Great game! Extremely entertaining!!! Godzilla (Purdue) prevails over King Kong (Illini) in the first of 3-4 head-to-head contests this season.

No chance we were going to go undefeated in the conference this season.
