But if he was still suffering from a concussion in the earlier games, (which I have more than a few questions about Belo’s original return) then don’t you think that would affect the results?
Sure, he said he was having horrendous headaches. It's hard to imagine that headaches WOULDN'T effect his shooting percentage on shots like that.
I just don't think it's realistic to think that now, after his return, he's going to continue to hit 80% on those (which it seemed like he did in the second half against Purdue.) If he happens to miss a couple in a row, let's not all get up at arms.

I'm thinking of the last time we played Maryland. It was two games in one. The last ten minutes of the first half without Kofi(coughed up a 16 point lead and we're actually trailing at halftime), then the second half with Kofi, where order was restored.

The good news (being positive) is that Kofi has not been playing well as of very recent, so really only missing his presence. The negative is that the game is at Maryland and they ran us off the floor when he was on the bench...at home.

Why, of why, can't things just run smoothly? (sigh)

Wait...what?? So by "very recent" you mean one game? One game. You're talking about one game.

If you want to really get technical...one half...because he sat on the bench with 4 fouls.

So to actually be accurate you should have said "Kofi did not play well with foul trouble for one half in the last game".

And by "only missing his presence" do you mean to imply that they don't need or miss his average double doubles?

These takes.....

Now that Kofi's absence has reached the main stream. Vegas has dropped the line from 8.5 to 7.0. It will probably go lower. This situation will be interesting to see the long term effects. Hopefully it proves to be a team rallying point going forward. Go Illini
Is Kofi injured or ill or …?

I'll be there as well! I need some revenge from when I was at the Dec 2019 game. That's the game when Cowen hit a game tying 3 from the "Gary Williams Court" logo and then got a steal and was fouled with 2 seconds left where he iced it with a FT. The shuttle bus ride back to the parking lot with Terps fans was not fun.
I was there. My bus ride was odd. I would up standing talking with another Illini about Illinois stuff while all the Terp fans sat quietly, knowing their rankings were going to suffer…

So how do we—indeed, do we—replace Kofi, or at least his impact on tonight’s game?

I will say that after BBV's performance against Purdue....you'll see him fairly early on.....hopefully Omar, BBV, and CH can combine to replace at least a majority of Kofi's typical game numbers

Maybe he's just taking a later flight. Perhaps a mega-NIL donor scheduled a commercial. All speculation on my part.
Well, dang me for trying to be optimistic. You had to wonder when he'd suffer a concussion or when someone would take his knees out. This sucks.

I wouldn't say that he played particularly well vs Nebraska, nobody played well against Michigan, he was a non factor vs Maryland for one half(which was the point of my post) and he was a non factor against Purdue(fouls). Keep in mind, we're comparing him to what we believe is a first team All American. Do you think that he's been at that level? To be fair, as a team, they didn't play well as a whole in those games....Purdue was a different story. Don't be so sensitive. Nobody is disparaging Kofi or devaluing him.

The overall point stands and it has to be a concern. The game against Maryland is very unsettling to think about. Illinois with Kofi was like +26. Illinois without Kofi was a -18. Same teams, two weeks later...how is that gap closed?

Papi distributing when he's on the floor; BBV, Omar down low. Trent being Trent. DMW being DMFW and keeping a cool head. Plummer stroking it from the arc. C'mon. We're deep, we have Turbo Curbo back to a great extent, and we've got some seriously seasoned leaders. They're not going to melt like snowflakes. They'll ball, and bang, and win. :illinois::chief:

[EDIT: In addition, I see no analysis in your post of Maryland's woes.]
