This might get me some haters but....DMW often times creates as many negative plays as positive ones. He can be a hot head and get too physical or create unforced errors by sloppy passing and there are times his defense is not elite! I would like to see RJ get some more minutes along with the rest of the freshmen. They are all taller and more skilled than DMW in my opinion. Granted DMW can at times really turn it on but.....we have some really talented freshmen that I believe can contribute more if they had more minutes. And no none of them are my sons!
These DMFW takes are exhausting. Sorry to take this rant out on you
@illinibb76.
TL;DR - DMFW has won more games for us than he has lost. Appreciate him.
DMFW is an enforcer. The annoying annoyance willing to get in the opponents face (or head) and sets the tone for his team and the overall game atmosphere (see most any game with Iowa).
When it comes to an Illinois Glue Guy Mount Rushmore, Da’Monte should be in the same discussion as Johnson, Sergio, Archibald, Ingram, Douglas, Bardo, etc. The amount of disrespect at this point is appalling.
Tonight watch DMFW on defense and see all the nitty gritty down and dirty things he contributes. There’s a reason wings like Scott and Ivey struggle, he’s long and strong. Sure he might not be elite on defense all the time, but he plays hard, knows the scouting report and has tremendous IQ.
I haven’t even mentioned how he has had to play out of position due to recruiting failures or injuries. He has been asked to do it all and has done so more than adequately. And now we want to reward him by taking away playing time in his last season when it isn’t warranted?
The freshmen will get their time, but a road game without Kofi, reincorporating Belo, and a recuperating CoHawk, is not the time to do it. Sure, if we get up big, then yes, by all means get them their minutes. But winning is still what’s paramount over keeping everyone happy.
BU has been consistent with putting in the frosh that has performed the best in practice during the 1st half of games. We are a very old, experienced, deep team. Playing time was always going to be hard to come by. The freshmen are developing a whole hell of a lot in practice, and DMFW likely has a huge role in that.
We are also only midway through the season, a freshman could click at anytime between now and April. But let’s get through this Kofi-less stretch first before we worry about freshmen and their tick.
