Sorry to offend. I've lived here on and off for 25 years and just haven't seen a significant change in customer svc attitude in the District. NoVA was fine when I lived there for a while. My little area near downtown Bethesda is a nightmare, frankly, but it's more the residents than the shopkeepers. And when I've gone back to the Midwest the past couple falls, after being away for a long while, I've just been knocked over at the difference everywhere.

But I have lived here for 19 of the past 25 yrs so I suppose that's what the economists would call "revealed preference." ;)

And "sad" is the best description of College Park I can think of! I like Hard Times Café in that shopping center w/Home Depot off US-1 by the Beltway. The waitstaff and bartenders in there are always friendly and the food's good. But a college vibe it does not have.

Well, off to the game. :illinois::ah:
Have a great night bro and cheer us on to a win.......stay safe.............

If anyone else gets a concussion just swap out the Tito’s for grain alcohol with a bleach chaser. So frustrated for our guys.

The desert
When the Vikings rolled...errr floated up to their next foreign land to conquer....they burned their boats after landing. Essentially...conquer our enemies...or die.

I'm guessing swimming with all that Viking war gear was a challenge.

Win or die trying.

(but don't die, it's an exaggerated metaphor from ancient warring tribes)

(I'm also not suggesting they burn the charter airplane after landing)

(but that would go viral)
Wasn't that Hernán Cortés when landing in Mexico to conquer the Aztecs? Not the Vikings.

On a plus note, we're probably in the running for #1 ranking for team with starting player sustaining concussions poll

This might get me some haters but....DMW often times creates as many negative plays as positive ones. He can be a hot head and get too physical or create unforced errors by sloppy passing and there are times his defense is not elite! I would like to see RJ get some more minutes along with the rest of the freshmen. They are all taller and more skilled than DMW in my opinion. Granted DMW can at times really turn it on but.....we have some really talented freshmen that I believe can contribute more if they had more minutes. And no none of them are my sons!;)
These DMFW takes are exhausting. Sorry to take this rant out on you @illinibb76.

TL;DR - DMFW has won more games for us than he has lost. Appreciate him.

DMFW is an enforcer. The annoying annoyance willing to get in the opponents face (or head) and sets the tone for his team and the overall game atmosphere (see most any game with Iowa).

When it comes to an Illinois Glue Guy Mount Rushmore, Da’Monte should be in the same discussion as Johnson, Sergio, Archibald, Ingram, Douglas, Bardo, etc. The amount of disrespect at this point is appalling.

Tonight watch DMFW on defense and see all the nitty gritty down and dirty things he contributes. There’s a reason wings like Scott and Ivey struggle, he’s long and strong. Sure he might not be elite on defense all the time, but he plays hard, knows the scouting report and has tremendous IQ.

I haven’t even mentioned how he has had to play out of position due to recruiting failures or injuries. He has been asked to do it all and has done so more than adequately. And now we want to reward him by taking away playing time in his last season when it isn’t warranted?

The freshmen will get their time, but a road game without Kofi, reincorporating Belo, and a recuperating CoHawk, is not the time to do it. Sure, if we get up big, then yes, by all means get them their minutes. But winning is still what’s paramount over keeping everyone happy.

BU has been consistent with putting in the frosh that has performed the best in practice during the 1st half of games. We are a very old, experienced, deep team. Playing time was always going to be hard to come by. The freshmen are developing a whole hell of a lot in practice, and DMFW likely has a huge role in that.

We are also only midway through the season, a freshman could click at anytime between now and April. But let’s get through this Kofi-less stretch first before we worry about freshmen and their tick.

I was on Twitter a bit ago, and someone commented on the elbow and actually tried to rationalize it. Said that it was "unavoidable" because Eady is so tall. Otherwise "how is he supposed to play basketball". I was gonna reply but didn't because if that is the baseline to try to have a civil discussion - there is no convincing that guy that you can't just elbow people in the head because you are tall.
Yeh, whenever a defender is between you and the basket, how are you supposed to get to the basket? He's in your way, you have to be able to knock him out of your way. How else can the game be played? 🙄

Every good team needs a player like Da’Monte.

One reason that he gets static from some fans is that he has a tendency for long game stretches not to look for his shot. Defenses forget about him at times and that clogs things up for other Illini. And then all of a sudden, he’ll sneak out to the 3-point line and take one or two.

Whether he (still) lacks confidence in his offense or he’s saving some energy from his strong D efforts, he can make the Illini a 4-on-5 team on the offensive side at times. And if some of the better Illini scorers are sitting from foul trouble, then it might become 3 on 5. Trouble looms.

The fact that he improved his outside shooting from his earlier years shows that he has an offense game. It’s when that disappears at times that fans might notice him more.
