Was just about to post that, Dan.

Just remember folks: Omar’s was a flagrant, but Edey leading with elbows to the head was never looked at. That play was also from the first half, so explains a bit how Kofi struggled down the stretch. And again, he implored the refs to look at a similar play in the second half and got stonewalled.
So infuriating :mad::mad::mad:

I hope that JW and BU send this to the B1G offices to file a complaint. These officials should never work another Illini game this year. Officials need to be held accountable for horribly called games.

Ok....so now can we dispense with the Kofi and Curbelo play critiques once and for all?

We have irrefutable, undeniable proof that the only way to keep them from playing All American, POY basketball is to literally slam their brains into their skulls.

Hope you don't mind me asking and if you want to tell me its none of my damn business I totally get it but are you from Taylorville? I ask because of your name. My Mom is from there and the high school sports teams are the Taylorville Tornadoes.

According to Werner and IlliniInquirer, “He took an inadvertent shot in practice on Sunday, but felt fine and did not feel right after taking a few elbows on Monday in a loss to Purdue, a team spokesperson said.” So Kofi took multiple headshots to compound his concussion. Get well soon, Kofi.

Brad needs to do better too. The bench saw what happened. (Indeed, Lieb throws up the “elbow” gesture after it happened.) Juxtapose Brad’s response to that play (or lack thereof) with Painter going ape after Stefanovic was “elbowed.”

If there was a time to get a T defending your players, it was that game. If there is a time for getting a fine and blasting the way Kofi is officiated game after game, it’s after tonight’s game.

Will Damonte be playing tonight? IIRC he went down hard on a what I'll call a very questionable box out. Was grabbing his side and Jake finished the game.

This strategy was developed and popularized last year by Tom Izzo. I've heard rumors that he held a super secret coaches clinic in the off-season to teach Illinois opponents how to deliver debilitating headshots that are undetectable by modern officials and largely without any real disciplinary consequence.

If DMW doesn’t play, I think what we’re looking at is BU and team playing a little “be careful what you post on Loyalty” with us. Think BBV is playing stronger than Kofi? Fine, we’ll let you have all the BBV you seem to crave. Think DMW is getting too many minutes? OK, let’s see how team looks with him getting no minutes. It is all a plot to throw water on some of the hot takes here. Don’t believe me. Heck how many games did they hold AC out just to prove a point after all the early season hot takes about him.

Maybe we need an officiating thread? I think the officiating blame lays solely at the feet of the B10. Play has gotten rougher over the last few seasons and if they wanted it corrected it would be. There will still be plenty of bad calls, but we are reverting to years ago when MSU routinely had tight ends on the basketball team that would beat you to death with hard, physical play. They cleaned that up in the early 2000’s partly because of popularity of the 04/05 style of play. Now they’ve let it come back. As many have pointed out, it doesn’t play well in the NCAA tourney as evidenced by Purdue’s lack of success. Do we need a petition drive?

I have felt quite strongly about bad officiating. In order not to be biased and since I attend Northwestern games I wrote a letter to commissioner Warren calling his attention to the bad calls in a couple of Northwestern games. I think a letter instead of a tweet has a higher probability of at least being read. I just keep the letter short and provide him a challenge to correct the obvious problem

Did you make sure to tell him about officiating problems with Illinois University games? I’m afraid if you called us U of I he wouldn’t know what you were talking about.

I did not even bring up U of I because he would just discount my comments as coming from a biased passionate fan.

Good lord. This was one of the first plays down the court too, iirc.
Jeez, that should change the rules and make it foul to lead with an elbow to the head. I know it's Edy's signature move, but c'mon, somebody might get hurt. /s

That might have worked in goblet but that shouldn’t work in basketball.

This might get me some haters but....DMW often times creates as many negative plays as positive ones. He can be a hot head and get too physical or create unforced errors by sloppy passing and there are times his defense is not elite! I would like to see RJ get some more minutes along with the rest of the freshmen. They are all taller and more skilled than DMW in my opinion. Granted DMW can at times really turn it on but.....we have some really talented freshmen that I believe can contribute more if they had more minutes. And no none of them are my sons!;)

if BU would do that i would be more than happy to contribute to a GoFundMe account to help pay the fine .....

I am in DMW corner. Tired of the downgrades !! There is only 1 basketball but 5 people to defend. He has earned and should get all of our respect. You want to go do battle the way he gives everything? Let's see how any of us would hold up for a season. What an athletic play to block the shot the other night. WOW! There are plenty of D1 players who do not score. In my opinion, DMW can score yet understands the game better than us and willing to put his teammates in position to score. I would hate to have to play 5 positions. WHAT MATTERS MOST --- WINS!!

Same thing on the HAWK! He always tries ways to contribute. Always has a way of finding some positive moments while on the floor. We are not looking at him as the Main Thing at this time. He will only find more and more ways to contribute with experience.

Takes a Team to make a Team!! Takes a Team to make the Dream Work!! Anybody interested in going back a few years and look at some results?

Here is what I wanted when I coached
1) Make more free throws than the other team attempted
2) Less than 10 turnovers a game
3) Out rebound the other team
4) Shoot more than 33% from 3

If we won 3 of these points we normally win. Go figure! POINT -- Guys got their points in the flow of an offense and I as the coach was able to control who got the most shots!!
