This whole driving down the lane with his head down and throwing the ball away rhetoric seems to be hinged on the Marquette game. Keep in mind that was the first time AC had every played in front of a hostile crowd. The next week, he looked somewhat better, but Kofi had just returned and the team was still gelling. And for Pete's sake, Belo was judged on one of the smallest, dumbest sample sizes in the history of college basketball. He's an All-American talent.

I wouldn't say that he played particularly well vs Nebraska, nobody played well against Michigan, he was a non factor vs Maryland for one half(which was the point of my post) and he was a non factor against Purdue(fouls). Keep in mind, we're comparing him to what we believe is a first team All American. Do you think that he's been at that level? To be fair, as a team, they didn't play well as a whole in those games....Purdue was a different story. Don't be so sensitive. Nobody is disparaging Kofi or devaluing him.

The overall point stands and it has to be a concern. The game against Maryland is very unsettling to think about. Illinois with Kofi was like +26. Illinois without Kofi was a -18. Same

Lmao, I'm so sensitive. If you don't want reactions to your illogical takes....don't post them.

16 and 13 vs Neb....and 21/10 vs scUM. On what ridiculous basketball planet is this not playing well?

As for the last part...do you even know what position you are taking here? Because I don't. You literally said "really only missing his presence" in your first post....now you are posting Kofi's +26 asking how do we win without him?

He's absolutely an All American. Please go look at some of the stats he's put up compared to Garza....or anyone over the last year.
He's only going to lose B1G POY or CBB POY because he's missed so many games, and Johnny Davis has apparently been possessed by Kobe Bryant.

We must all just be watching different games than you my guy. Really don't get how you can say he didn't play well against Nebraska and nobody played well against Michigan?

CoHawk can get 15 & 15 by himself. So 25 & 25 should be a reasonable sum for the trio.

This message was brought to you by an engineer for the CoHawk Express.

Well we have yet to see him get those in the Big Ten play… not saying it’s impossible. Hey I’m on the CoHawk Express too, but maybe more Junior and Senior year. This year seems more like a slow starting locomotive. Chugging up…

Was just about to post that, Dan.

Just remember folks: Omar’s was a flagrant, but Edey leading with elbows to the head was never looked at. That play was also from the first half, so explains a bit how Kofi struggled down the stretch. And again, he implored the refs to look at a similar play in the second half and got stonewalled.

I can't go back and dig into the posts, but I didn't see that many people questioning Andre's talent. I think it was just his lack of a "pass-first" mentality during the Marquette game - a trait that endeared him to us last year and allowed him to have a truly exceptional season - that was jarring for some fans, especially as a few of those turnovers came at crucial moments. In a previous post, however, I explained why I can condone those "mistakes" at the time and why I think we are likely to see the Belo vs. Purdue from here on out! Marquette game is truly ancient history. :)

If I’m Whitman that video is headed straight to the head of the big 10 office.
Kevin Warren probably hates Whitman, and I like that. :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, with the way our bigs stepped up last game, I feel pretty good about tonight. A week off to practice and rest, and we are playing great basketball (and continued to do so with Kofi out last game).

Hoping some DC area Illini fans can fill the joint up on this fine Friday night to give us a boost! I found a cool WSJ article about where different school's graduates moved after college, and DC was in the top ten for Illinois:

Chicago, IL-IN-WI: 42.0%
San Francisco, CA: 3.1%
New York, NY-NJ-PA: 2.8%
Los Angeles, CA: 2.5%
St. Louis, MO-IL: 2.4%
Washington, DC-MD-VA: 2.0%

If U of I's "living alumni" numbers are correct, that is a good 9,000+ Illini fans in the area, so hopefully a good chunk shows up ... we have already heard of a few in this thread!

Thanks; that WSJ article's interesting. I'll be there looking out for fellow Illini alums and fans.

Just when I was emotionally recovering from that game...

How tough is Kofi though? Elbow to the head, gets concussed and keeps playing solid D and gets the board. What?
@TCTORNADO had a post a few pages back about this being something that galvanizes the team. Now I get it. It’s us versus them. I think they play pissed tonight and the rest of the season.
