My only gripe with BU over the past few years is his lack of creativity on defense. Not sure if there is a stat out there to back it up, but we must have played the least amount of zone the past couple years. Our defense has been good, don't get me wrong...but sometimes teams get in a rhythm and figure it out. Or sometimes we just aren't guarding the same way we usually do. The Maryland game was a perfect example. There are so many ways to try to get a team out of rhythm. Full court man, 1-2-2, 1-3-1, 2-3 zone. Even staying in man but going smaller for a few possessions and switching everything.
One thing I always loved about Self was his willingness to throw out junk defenses if we were struggling in man. I remember him pulling a triangle and 2 out against Michigan when they had two guys killing us (Lavell Blanchard and ?). It turned the whole game around because we hadn't played it all year so they weren't prepared for it.

Brad is much smarter than me so I am fine with his choices. But he seems cut out of the bob knight mold of zero zone (especially Indiana years)

I mean, we have a 9/10 man rotation. Same as MSU. Only difference is we have a few guys who average 30+ minutes. But of those guys, who are you trying to keep off the floor in favor of the freshman? I do feel for the freshman on an empathetic human level. But the reality of being on a skilled, veteran laden team is that the new guys get less tick.
Bad year to be a freshman due to the free covid year for all. In a normal year Monte and Trent would be gone and there would only be 13 scholarship players on the roster. Our frosh would be getting more tic.

Why are we worried about next year right now? We are in the middle of the season in which we're poised to win the conference and go to the tournament.

We are recruiting, getting the freshman some tick, and trying to survive a tough B10 schedule. Let's put our focus where it's most needed, please.
Thank you. Why are we worrying about this right now? For starters, Podz and Goode aren't going anywhere. Second, when guys do transfer out after 1 year often times it's because they are recruited over. That is not why Miller left, he wanted to be the lead guard for his pro development and that would not happen alongside Belo and Trent. But remember how bummed we were when Miller left? Now tell me if you'd rather still have him, or are we glad Plummer is here?

Win this and we're back in sole possession of 1st place in the Big Ten (for at least a couple of hours -- Wisconsin's will likely beat Nebraska to tie it up again).
Nope. It is postponed

That's only when Kofi is out for clarification! Although I think Coleman should be in splitting time with Grandison always!

That was a micro comment in the context of the entire comment and statement.

Student here. It probably has to do with the fact today is the coldest day of winter so far (today and tomorrow seem to be the absolute peaks of this winter) and the fact that there's a high chance we'll lose due to our injuries and past games vs MSU. Another reason could be the fact that it's on a weekday and is a bit earlier than most games (6pm vs usually around 8pm). I'm going though

6 PM start is also a pain point for those of us in and around Chicago.

I do think that if we’d beaten Purdue and Maryland this would be a sellout.

I think Hawkins just lack confidence. I don’t believe his play is bad? I grant you he has defensive lapses but his board work is as good as anyone on the team. He does have a 3 point shot. He just to not be scared he will be pulled for making a mistake. We need him back to playing like he was against Rutgers.
