Let's not get cocky. Remember what happened to this dude.

If I ate there I would be useless for the next three days. Hopefully these youngsters will use all that meat and starch for energy!
In the Before Times, when I'd go to the Beef House, I'd try to eat as "healthy" as possible. That would be getting the salad bar and a small filet mignon with rice instead of potatoes or french fries. But those rolls... and that jam and that apple butter... and those CROUTONS would always derail my attempts to eat light. And yes, I'd be useless that night and for a day or two following.

I think matchups have been discussed at length. But one thing I don’t think has been discussed from last game was Purdue’s 17-0 run late in the first half. Now they can score points in bunches, but I think we went 6+ minutes without a point. I don’t think their defense is that good, so I am putting that run more on us than them. Even a 17-6 run during that stretch and it’s a completely different game. I don’t think we will give up a run that big again.

Of course we had a few things going for us that may not be repeatable. In the second half, Plum got red hot, BBV played amazing post defense, and Belo was transcendent. Guessing 2 and 3 were nowhere to be found on PU’s scouting report so doubt we take them by surprise this game.

Ultimately I think it’ll just come down to who makes more shots. I think we’ve improved defensively in the past 3 weeks so will see if that’s enough to keep them from hitting more shots than us. Should be a heck of a game. Hope we pull it out!
I gotta believe it was with Kofi on the bench, but you're right. I hope those scoring droughts are behind us.

... but Papi-enhanced.
On one hand Belo hasn't dominated recently like he did in that game but on the other hand Purdue's poor defense leads to those classic Belo dribble drive opportunities. Could see another breakout performance for our guy 👀

Really felt that the Illini took a major step forward in the second half of the Indiana game. They did so much right during that half — led by defense. Really looking forward to this game as I think they can build on what we saw in Bloomington. If they can, I think Illini pull away slightly at end of a close game.

I'm convinced that both AC and BBV played their 20 mins each during that game largely on adrenaline.

Indeed. It’s all very, very good. Portion control and eating light in general are tough there. Also, the service is usually excellent.
However, one of the first times there… my wife or I one, asked if they had roast beef and the waitress looked at us both like we had antlers growing out of our heads. Lol

We even got lightly scolded for asking. ;)
This waitress acts all put out and says: “ Uh, No This IS the Beefhouse, Sir. ” Swear to God.

Politeness got the better of me…I chuckled and politely nodded. We went away feelin’
all…okay excuse us. I mean, come roast BEEF it’s right there in the title. I understand Steak is their forte but, Jeeesh.

This is a really tough matchup for us. Any team that has a big, physical answer for Kofi is a problem. There aren't many teams out there that do, but Purdue is one of them. Have to keep Ivey from going off and run Stefanovic off the three point line. Then, add in the fact that all road games are worth a few points. I was dead wrong vs Indiana and would love to be dead wrong again, but on the surface:.

Purdue. 82
The beloved. 68

Need our guards to go on a heater to get this game into the last five minutes with a chance.
I respect your take but think it’ll be closer. It’s essentially a pick’um game in my eyes. My heart and mind don’t agree other than it’ll be decided by 5 or less.

Same. I have to wait until my wife goes to bed to watch the games. Makes it difficult sometimes to keep from knowing the score. Some people like to text me during the game and it makes it tough.
I watched the UI/IU game at 8 pm Saturday for the same reason. It was tough to avoid everything on my phone.

IT’S GAMEDAY!

I am so pumped for I think “THE” biggest regular season game. AZ and the first matchup against Purdue were important but did not have as big of implications. Our ranking is higher, and we are finally hitting our stride. If we win, we control the B1G race. I’m gonna lay out what I think are some keys to the game. We don’t need all of these but if we get a couple going, then we have a good chance.

Keep in mind these are just one dumb fan’s opinions so agree with me, or yell at me idc.

1. I think most important: SHUT DOWN Stefanovic! Hold him to 3 or less 3 pointers, and cover his butt on offensive rebounds, the tend to look to him for kickout 3s
Man for the job: Trent mf Frazier

2. Make Jaden Ivey earn his points at the stripe. He will try relentlessly to drive and score in transition. It’s our job to keep the ball from going in. We won’t stop him from scoring but Much like JD, if we can make him inefficient, then He won’t get a good rhythm.
Man for the job: DMFW and anyone else on transition D.

3. Shut down Trevion. I don’t think we match up with Edey well, but we can make his counterparts life difficult. Edey can score 20 but if we keep Trevion under 10 pts and 5 rebounds, I’m feeling way better about that matchup.
Man for the Job: Kofi mf Cockburn, and BBV.

4. Rebound! Offensive and defensively. Especially the defensive glass. They didn’t kill you with points of OR last game but we need every possession possible.

Brad says defense and rebounding and effort have to travel. I think my points kind of fit into that. But let’s see if our men bring the 🔥
