In the Before Times, when I'd go to the Beef House, I'd try to eat as "healthy" as possible. That would be getting the salad bar and a small filet mignon with rice instead of potatoes or french fries. But those rolls... and that jam and that apple butter... and those CROUTONS would always derail my attempts to eat light. And yes, I'd be useless that night and for a day or two following. If I ate there I would be useless for the next three days. Hopefully these youngsters will use all that meat and starch for energy!

The metabolic and hormonal demands of a man of ~ 20 are formidable. At that age I could eat 5k cal/day, not gain weight, and be famished every morning when I awoke. If I ate there I would be useless for the next three days. Hopefully these youngsters will use all that meat and starch for energy!
... but Papi-enhanced.We took them to double OT last time in a game where we were almost Kofi-less.

Game Preview | #13 Illini at #3 Purdue Tuesday - University of Illinois Athletics
Big Ten leaders meet on ESPN Super Tuesday, as 10-2 Illinois plays at 9-3 Purdue (8 p.m. CT).fightingillini.com
I gotta believe it was with Kofi on the bench, but you're right. I hope those scoring droughts are behind us.I think matchups have been discussed at length. But one thing I don’t think has been discussed from last game was Purdue’s 17-0 run late in the first half. Now they can score points in bunches, but I think we went 6+ minutes without a point. I don’t think their defense is that good, so I am putting that run more on us than them. Even a 17-6 run during that stretch and it’s a completely different game. I don’t think we will give up a run that big again.
Of course we had a few things going for us that may not be repeatable. In the second half, Plum got red hot, BBV played amazing post defense, and Belo was transcendent. Guessing 2 and 3 were nowhere to be found on PU’s scouting report so doubt we take them by surprise this game.
Ultimately I think it’ll just come down to who makes more shots. I think we’ve improved defensively in the past 3 weeks so will see if that’s enough to keep them from hitting more shots than us. Should be a heck of a game. Hope we pull it out!
On one hand Belo hasn't dominated recently like he did in that game but on the other hand Purdue's poor defense leads to those classic Belo dribble drive opportunities. Could see another breakout performance for our guy... but Papi-enhanced.
I'm trying to recall what "hormonal demands" are.The metabolic and hormonal demands of a man of ~ 20 are formidable. At that age I could eat 5k cal/day, not gain weight, and be famished every morning when I awoke.
Lol. My wife and kids won’t watch Illini b-ball with me for the same sort of behavior.During the last Purdue game my in-laws had the distinct pleasure of seeing the side of me that screams "THAT'S F****** BULL****" at the TV for 2 hours. We'll see how this game goes![]()
Same. I have to wait until my wife goes to bed to watch the games. Makes it difficult sometimes to keep from knowing the score. Some people like to text me during the game and it makes it tough.Lol. My wife and kids won’t watch Illini b-ball with me for the same sort of behavior.

I'm convinced that both AC and BBV played their 20 mins each during that game largely on adrenaline. On one hand Belo hasn't dominated recently like he did in that game but on the other hand Purdue's poor defense leads to those classic Belo dribble drive opportunities. Where’s Curbelo?
I respect your take but think it’ll be closer. It’s essentially a pick’um game in my eyes. My heart and mind don’t agree other than it’ll be decided by 5 or less. This is a really tough matchup for us. Any team that has a big, physical answer for Kofi is a problem. There aren't many teams out there that do, but Purdue is one of them. Have to keep Ivey from going off and run Stefanovic off the three point line. Then, add in the fact that all road games are worth a few points. I was dead wrong vs Indiana and would love to be dead wrong again, but on the surface:.
Purdue. 82
The beloved. 68
Need our guards to go on a heater to get this game into the last five minutes with a chance.
Is that like when you need a nap in the afternoon?I'm trying to recall what "hormonal demands" are.
Exactly. That need fades away like a sweet Kofi J from beyond the charity stripe. And then returns decades later. Is that like when you need a nap in the afternoon?

I watched the UI/IU game at 8 pm Saturday for the same reason. It was tough to avoid everything on my phone.Same. I have to wait until my wife goes to bed to watch the games. As the man has noted in the past, it's a heavyweight fight. How many times are you gonna get up off the canvas and square up for more? This may be our new mantra! It's a fight, let's come out swinging.
