BU would love 13 guys expecting to play....that's what the BigBoys deal with in most years.
I'm not sure about that. Then you just wind up with bad chemistry.

This year's roster - I doubt BU expected Lieb, BVV, Pods to play big minutes, and Hutch getting hurt freed up other minutes, not to mention Belo out
Last year's roster -Hamlin, Lieb, Tyler Underwood....obviously there's some spots on the roster who won't play much if it all, and more PT to his core guys
Two years ago - Hamlin, Tevian Jones, Tyler....similar to previous year

Before that obviously he was inheriting a mess

I don't think there's anything wrong with going into the season with 10-11 guys you figure will compete for the rotation, and a couple spots at the end for projects or kids rehabbing an injury or an open scholarship (like this year that went to Dainja). In fact I think BU has said he likes having an open scholarship going into the year for anyone who might transfer in

Derek Piper sure didn't seem to think Miller was a lock to return. In fact, I'd say he sounded a little pessimistic it would happen. This was on his radio show with Lon Tay.

As we recruit better we'll have less end of the benchers...we weren't talking about when schollies used...still count towards 13...are you wanting projects or available producers? We are not there yet but trending up.

I mean if the staff can handle the egos of 13 kids all wanting to play, more power to them. Just seems an impossible task, and having a spot or two at the end for an open scholarship or transfer or talented kid rehabbing an ACL, think that works, and then the core guys are all playing more.

I think we are closer in thought than we think. Also seems the portal has allowed teams...if they can secure them, to filling in missing pieces.

Thinking about a few transfers in recent years, just my thoughts...Griffin, I definitely did not want to go...Tev, it was probably time....Miller, surprised as heck...Curbelo, what could have been. Any thoughts?

Pretty much agree with you on all of these. With Miller, wasn't quite as surprised as others I guess because once Plummer was coming, and at the time obviously Belo was healthy coming off an amazing freshman season, where was the minutes and shots going to come for Trent, Belo, Plummer and Miller, not to mention not knowing at the time what the freshmen were going to add.

I mean that's why (IMO) you've got to have a few people on the roster who accept their roles either as young guys waiting their turn and developing, or an open scholly or something.
