If we can get this Basketball Ball team on the winning side if things too, our AD hire is 6 yrs ago is one for the ages. ( that is assuming that the Football team continues to improve)
Maybe I’m an easy grader, but Josh already is one for the ages for bringing in Underwood and the joy he’s brought back to this diehard Illini basketball fan the past three seasons, with a fourth great year in a row looking very promising.

Peoples to DePaul makes sense considering DePaul is far more competitive than is Illinois.

Boo! But not surprising. Seems folks in Danville are more Hoosier fans than Illini. Illinois really could've used her. Bah!
Take that back. Nothing for nothing, I'm from there and I never met or had any friends that were fans of IU. One Purdue fan and Carolina and Duke because it was cool. All Illini from my experience. Hell, 2 natives are on the football team, I'm sure there would've been a couple more that are in the NFL if recruited and Jason Anderson set all sorts of records for Illini baseball. Danville loves Illinois.

Nice pick up. NC State has historically been a very solid women's program, if not of one the better programs in the ACC.

Here's Bryant's ESPN recruiting profile. Some highlights as a h.s. player from her NC State bio -
  • 2020 McDonald's All-American Game Nominee
  • Four-star recruit with ESPN scouts grade of 94
  • Ranked No. 46 overall and the No. 11 point guard in the class of 2020 by Prospect Nation
Her playing time diminished during her sophomore year (average about 10 min freshman year then 5 the following), so it seems like she's looking for some floor time where she can have an immediate impact.

Note: Perhaps, one day, the Illini will get their own Caitlin Clark (Iowa) or even a Paige Bueckers (UConn) if, nay, when things are turned around.

One kid going to Marquette and another to Indiana....are these the type of kids Green needs to keep at Illinois? Certainly no slight at her as she's had no time to recruit either one, just more of a general question. Not sure if any posters have seen them play. Are we going to try to build the program by keeping Illinois kids at Illinois, or more like Underwood and get the best kids we can from whevever we can find them?

Now she needs to find some size. Has a Magassa decided where she will play next year?
Agreed. Both of the current transfers seem like they'll make the transition to Big Ten basketball just fine, but their size could be an issue when facing a taller team. Not to disrespect the likes of Bryant, but even if Hailey Van Lith (5'7) had issues against South Caroline in the WFF I can imagine players who aren't Van Lith struggling equally so against greater or better talent.

The first step is improving the talent on the roster, and Coach Green is bringing in some significant upgrades already. We need to give her some time, but wow, what a great start!
What? It’s been nearly four weeks!

The staff was just filled out this week. I have no doubt she’s been working the channels hard since we have 2 commits already. In addition to player workouts that have been happening, I’m impressed with what she’s done so far, including recruiting and bringing in what appears to be a high level recruiting staff.

With transfers in and out, how many open schollies are still available?

9 currently on roster, 4 of whom are in the portal. 1 commit not on roster. 3 freshman recruits if all show up. If all those in the portal stay there are two scholarships available. Once a player goes into the portal the school no longer has to honor the scholarship and it is hard to say who Green may want to keep. I think the answer may be lots.

Thank you. This could be good news. We likely have more flexibility to work the portal than most other programs.

I think Geovana Lopes is back on the roster recently, taking it to 11.

247 reported yesterday Green is working with 5 players - Jada Peebles, Jayla Oden, Geovana Lopes, Adalia McKenzie and Kendall Bostic. Adding two commits and 3 incoming freshmen leaves five open scholarships. Big selling job but great opportunity available.

The roster is shaping up nicely. We should be set with guards with the addition of Jackson, Bryant and Cook. I'm excited to see Lissa Taponen. She looks like a solid post player who can shoot the three.

What’s the deal on Jackson and Taponen? I don’t see them on the roster.
