Therefore, we need a center who is able to shoot the three well, plays well on offense around the basket, rebounds extremely well, and passes well, whether in the post or on the perimeter!!!

This should be an easy find.

Uhh, a college post player knocking down
3’s is way down the wishlist. That’s a luxury…not a necessity.

I think first and foremost you want a post with post skills…hopefully he can rebound, defend, and run the floor with some endurance too. If you’ve got that you’ve got something. (Basic to fair passing ability…doesn’t have to pass like Walton.)

IMO things like a jumper and a semi-hook are of secondary importance. But I think the kinds you’d hope to see next. IMO

Portal Taketh = 3
Portal Giveth = 0

All this talk of studs heading to the beloved, but no substance.....
Yeah, but first, the “transfer season” isn’t close to being over. And second, I have a hard time believing BU and staff can’t bring at least 2 transfers that will give the team more next year than Podz and Payne would have given us. And some on here would argue that finding someone who will give the team as much or more than what Curbelo would have brought next year won’t be a Herculean task. So not sure what your point is other than impatience.

Worry more than anything. I have hope, but faith is waning as the days go by. TSJ? Murray, gone, Hopkins gone. I get it's relatively early yet, but so far it's been a lot of smoke and no fire.

Play out the main alternative scenario. If we had added a bunch of players via the portal before anyone left the roster, people would be screaming on here about creaning and forcing players out. Can't keep everyone happy.

Well, hey, we could also cut about 20% if we got rid of the posts that complain about other posts (which leads to responses, and then more complaints, and then...and here we are).
The recruiting "news" items are the blueberries. The rest is the muffin. I can scroll with the best of them but rarely do. This thread is akin to sitting around the feed mill on a hot July afternoon with the other farmers kvetching about the weather, the price of wheat/corn/soybeans, and what Coach Taylor has got to work next season with over at County High.

It's the stuff of life. ;)

Sorry for not doing the leg work to dig out the Scholly grid, but how many open spots do we have for next season and will the staff leave one open for a potential mid season Dain situation?

Sure, let's compare a 3 point shot to the 1400+ players transferring every year in terms of its impact on the game. Super comparable.
You're right, they aren't comparable because the 3 point shot had a much larger impact on the game than the new transfer rule will.

Did Illini really have anything more than a passing interest in Hopkins — if even that? Just cuz a lot of people on here might have wanted him doesn’t mean BU did. If missing on two “recruits” has you worried, the recruiting thread might not be the place to be.

Scenarios that involve a few random posters on a message board don't matter to me. You sound like Weber who suggested he passed on vanVleet because the fans wouldn't be happy.

Our staff's job is to put together a winning team. Not to aim for good message board reviews.

I don't think you understood the point of my post.

The poster I was responding to was talking about how losing some players, and not yet replacing them, was making them anxious. I suggested that adding players prior to any leaving would just produce a different kind of anxiety in our fanbase.

The point was to relax. Let things play out. The roster is far from being set, and the current transition state we are in probably won't have any significance in a month or two. Enjoy the ride.
