Thanks...with all of the standard "you're not being held to this, etc.", and perhaps just to stir the pot on a slow day, does "Good news is coming" connect to anything in particular, or is it more of a "patience, good things come to those who wait"?
I think May 1st is the last day to decide to portal..
Bigger fish later...possibly?

The staff has a plan. Good news is coming. Sorry about Shannon to those who seemed offended, at the time it appeared he was a lock but things change
I would say I appreciate this batch of "insiders." No. Their predictions were not always right but I understand. The truth (that I believe) is they heard the information more often from people close to staff or directly from staff members. Therefore their takes are probably somewhat similar to the staff's. But you have to face the fact that the staff could be wrong sometimes because the recruits were not forthcoming or other reasons. In general, their rates or being right were not bad. If anyone of you remember the "insiders" from the Groce's era, they were total disasters and this board was a joke at the time, which I blame more on Groce than the insiders. These day this board is entertaining but not a jok.

Totally agree. But in addition, I would NOT quite go so far as to characterize statements or information from recruits as "not forthcoming." That may be the case in some cases, but just exactly as you indicate, there may be other reasons why a recruit goes back and forth on a couple of programs he really likes. That is: recruiting is fluid! Ha ha, there it is!

In real life (outside this fabulous board), people negotiate on both sides of a relationship, and deals that seem done sometimes are not, and deals that seem doomed may be resurrected. Everyone here can relate, from experiences in their own real-life world.

So I think our hot-shot Insiders(TM) are honest and accurate. But there is NO WAY anyone can bat 1000%, here or elsewhere in life.

Them's the breaks ...

Only possible "blue blood" team in the Big Ten is Indiana, and I don't think even they qualify. Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, Duke, and UCLA. That's it IMO.

Winning one title in the past 47 years (and none in the past 28 years) makes you not a blue blood for me.

One title wouldn't make us a blue blood - not even close. UConn has won four in the last 23 years and they're not a blue blood. Villanova three in 37 years and definitely not a blue blood.

Anyway, it's not too important to me to be considered a blue blood. I just want to win.

If things can change then by definition it's not a lock.

Some people have a warped definition of "lock." If it hasn't happened, it's not a lock. Anyone who's followed recruiting knows that recruits frequently tell coaching staffs (not just ours) what they want to hear.

I appreciate our "insiders" for giving us some idea of what could happen. But, realistically, you have to guess we will land maybe half of the kids they predict us to get. A lot of times the kid will give the staff really good vibes and people will think he's coming, but won't ending up happening. AKA recruiting is fluid.

Any word on this guy? Looks like he is unlikely to get drafted and from Baltimore. He looks like David Jones but slightly better in every way. A little bigger, scored and rebounded a little more, shot a little better, and his team won a little more. Wonder if he would head back to Marquette or if Chester might be talking to him.

Watched him earlier this year. Dude can jump out of the gym. I'd take him solely for his athleticism

Maybe. The infamous Dave Bliss was a Knight assistant from 1971 to 1975. Those IU teams were loaded with future NBA players.
I don't have proof, but the story I was told, was that Knight never wanted to know what his assistants or boosters were doing.

From my viewpoint you must win championships with more than one coach to be a blue blood. Otherwise you just had a blue blood coach ala Knight, Wooden, Wright. Kentucky, Kansas, and NC qualify and we’ll have to see about Duke.
Just my opinion but every year John Wooden's UCLA somehow ended up with the 15 best players in America. Love to see what he would have done with all three stars. Just saying.....
